A Bit of Psychology

This came in my email the other day. Maybe it can help others as much as it did me.

Bringing Your (Beautiful) Voice to the World

I’ve been needing this desperately, and y’all have been supporting me. I am grateful!

Very thought provoking, particularly you can’t tell your story without upsetting someone, provoking jealousy etc. Despite this it’s good to tell your story and “express yourself” (Madonna). Thankyou for finding this. There were some pointers for me to take away.:green_heart:

Absolutely love this piece - he has some advice that is valuable not only for writers, but for all creative souls trying to express themselves in wonderful ways.

I particularly love this quote:

grant yourself permission to GET EVERYTHING OUT OF YOU, in the early stages. In other words, the first draft(s) are for you and you alone.

I’ve heard this wisdom said probably a hundred different times over the past few months while working on and researching my writing. Every time I hear it I’m grateful. It is difficult, but so valuable, to train yourself to just get the words and emotions out of you.

Whether you’re writing or painting or dancing - it doesn’t matter. The first take is for you. You can edit or revise or work on a mess, but you can’t do anything to a blank page. You’ve just got to open up and let it out in private, and then develop it from there :seedling:

Great piece, @georgia - thank you so much for sharing it!
