When I left Indiana in 2007, I was headed for a writer’s colony in Taos, NM. The bus made a stop in Albuquerque. We were in the Sandia Mountains at dawn, and the light was so beautiful, I started crying. When I couldn’t find the writer’s colony, I backtracked to Albuquerque and found myself a home I feel attached to.
