Just a funny
I too live with a Mini Panther who thinks everything is for him to do with as he sees fit.
He can open doors and basic flat top plastic containers so I have to be creative. After securing the best I can, I leave treats about a foot from my Altar and so far he eats them and walks away.

I often do @Amethyst much to his chagrin 
Although when I’m in any kind of emotion distress he’ll let me squeeze him or bury my face in him or whatever.
He’s one special kitty. High maintenance, but special
