Am I crazy for

Am I crazy for thanking the herbs and plants I grow when harvesting them?

Not at all! the Native Americans always thanked the plants, animals, and stones they used, and our own @SilverBear does too. It is a beautiful practice. Please continue.

Absolutely not! Herbs and plants are living beings just like humans, animals. Even crystals have energy that’s alive! As Georgia said, it’s a beautiful practice! We should give thanks every day!

Oh no! I always show my gratitude and respect when harvesting my herbs. Please carry on thanking them.

Nope! It makes sense to me. You’re taking something, it’s only polite to say thank you!

Heavens, no! Many cultures (such as our indigenous peoples around the globe, including North America) had the wisdom to interact with that which was used to provide sustenance.

No need to second guess your intuition - you’re spot on. I find it the most natural thing in the world. :smiling_face_with_three_hearts:

Not crazy at all! I hate when I forget to thank the plants when harvesting. I’m such an empath that I have gone back to plants many times to apologize for not thanking them! I could only tell this to y’all though. Don’t want my kids to commit me. Hubby knows how I am.

You may want to look into animism.

I fall under this catergory, if one needs a label, this is me LOL.

Animism teaches that everything around us—every stone, stream, creature, the moon, the sun, the sand, tree, plant, herb, and whispering breeze—holds its own spirit, its own quiet pulse of life.

Animism, is the belief that the world is woven with living energy, that nature is not just scenery but a vibrant community of beings with awareness, and wisdom….with a soul/spirit/energy.

I personallybelieve this and I also believe everything and ALL creation is interconnected, awake, and capable of touching our lives in subtle, meaningful ways.

May all beings everywhere be happy and free, and may the thoughts, words, and actions of my own life contribute in some way to that happiness and freedom for all.

You are not crazy. I live in Japan and here they teach kids that everything, I mean everything, has a soul and thus if you harm it or distub it, you must apologize. They even say that there are demons that represent everything from trees, to chairs, to parasols (Asian umbrellas). Kids here are taught this from an early age. Lol, I’ve always said sorry to a table I bumped into and then I found out that people in Japan don’t think its weird because they say there is some type of soul inside it.

So…not crazy at all!

No, you’re not crazy at all. A few other people have mentioned animism, and animism is the belief that everything holds a soul or spirit or some sort of energy that makes it alive in its own way. You’re not the only person to thank the plants and herbs that they harvest or work with. Animism actually dates back thousands of years to some of the first people on Earth. If this is what you feel called to do, then by all means continue doing it :pink_heart:
