I really understand that. A mother’s love is magic all by itself. When our oldest daughter was a toddler, I started paying attention to my SO (for alerts… I always pay attention to her… I swear! .) She could tell if our daughter was in trouble of any kind before anything else could alert me. It is jaw dropping at times.
Your ability to handle that in your meditation efforts is awesome. Distractions there will be, that is life. Taking a few moments to center yourself is a wonderful coping mechanism.
@crystal5
What wonderful tips and ideas! Long ago, I got into meditation out of necessity. I wish I had those kinds of helpers back then.
re: Meditate only 15 minutes
Yep. Once you are used to it, falling into meditation (even if it is only quiet time) 15 minutes is a long and useful period). Just a few minutes is helpful. If I am working something and using meditation to get centered, it may take longer but it rarely does.
Aww thank you for such kind words @dan3! It was not easy, it’s taken a long time to get here; the hardest part was learning to distinguish between a ‘something is wrong’ sound, and ‘I want you’. I felt so bad at first, but time apart is just as important as time together. I usually do 15 mins too @crystal5!
Ahh yeah That does tend to be the general consensus for spellwork. Just try to remember that back before all this technology, hundreds of years ago, witches and wise folk were practicing their craft and weaving spells with children running around, families in the house, animals to tend to, etc. They may have had an easier time of connecting to the world around them without the technological distractions we have, but I think that as long as you have a good grounding practice and feel confident in your own abilities, you don’t need a quiet, non-distracting place to cast your spells Make your magic work for you, not the other way around.
This is exactly the point! The practice of meditating should be one that helps you build up your focus and ability to concentrate regardless of what’s going on around you. Eventually, you’ll be able to focus on what you’re doing and can tune out the background noise, filtering the information you see and hear to only what’s important. You have to practice, though, so don’t get discouraged with needing to remind your mind that you’re meditating when you’re doing it. That’s part of the process
I just wanted to comment on this and say that I don’t think it sounded pompous at all!
