This showed up in my FB feed today and I thought “that’s cool but I don’t crochet” then I thought, “but I think I know someone who does….”
@MeganB have you seen this before?
This showed up in my FB feed today and I thought “that’s cool but I don’t crochet” then I thought, “but I think I know someone who does….”
@MeganB have you seen this before?
OMG, that’s awesome!! I don’t crochet, either. What a terrific pattern love the curling tip! ![]()
Love the hat! I’m with Feathertip - the curled tip is really neat. I wonder how they get it to stay in shape? Wire, maybe?
Either way, it looks like a cool pattern! Thanks for sharing, @Greenbriar

I’ve seen this! I think it is pretty cool and would be fun to make!
They probably had to spray it with starch for the photo! LOL
I’m not sure it’s the same pattern, but a witchy friend who crochets makes hats like these and uses floral wire to keep their shape.
Now there’s a creative way to shape the fabric!

That sounds like a good idea too - I bet the floral wire is lightweight, but sturdy enough to hold the curl in the hat tip

Oh, I haven’t seen this one specifically, but I have seen some similar ones!
As an aside, and I always hate to be the bearer of bad news…
that website isn’t the original creator of all of those patterns… I found them on Etsy from the original creators. Also, the website domain information doesn’t match their about page and business information – I always feel like a Negative Nelly, but better to be informed than not, I think!
The original pattern for the witch hat is by ElfCrochetClothes on Etsy

And it’s cheaper than the fake site!
On another note, because I feel like this always happens and I feel bad because I feel like I’m always being negative about things like this, but there’s a reason! Fake sites are almost always setup to steal your credit card information, personal information, and other information that could be used against you to do harm
So, I hope no one feels bad or anything when I share this info – I promise, I’m just trying to help and protect you all!
Don’t feel bad @MeganB
I think that probably came up as an ad on FB, so that should have been my heads up that it was a scam site right there. Now I need to find the ad on FB again and post in all caps. THIS IS STOLEN FROM ANOTHER SITE! DO NOT BUY FROM HERE!
I wish there was an ad-free option for FB.
Oh no! It’s always sad to see something cool and realize the shop/person claiming it stole it from someone else. Thank you very much for your helpful investigation, Megan - I’m glad the owner of the pattern was found!
![]()
True this! If they’re stealing from creators, it’s not hard to believe they’d steal from their customers too ![]()
Thanks for the helpful info and for keeping everyone safe!

Same here! I almost never use my FB these days for several reasons, but one was that it got to the point where every other post - sometimes more - on my feed was an ad or sponsored content. I feel like I get more real content in a free magazine than on FB ![]()
That’s kind of you, Greenbriar - I hope no one falls for the scammer’s ad! It would be nice if FB took down the fake shop, or at least redirected to support the original creator. Because it really is a cute pattern!

I added a link to the original creator on my scam warning post
I was guessing it was a stollen image! My mom sees ads like this on her coloring apps all the time and is always sending them to me. I dont always tell her it’s fake though lol i feel bad too! So i get that but its always good to know!
I am a knitter… have a knitting one lol???
Thank you for that reassurance
it’s becoming an increasing issue in online spaces. Heck, even a local store is selling counterfeit tarot decks, and I don’t think they even realize they’re fraudulent!
I’m happy to help! As a creative myself, I would hope others would do the same for me if they knew how ![]()
It’s so bad sometimes
but I totally get not having the heart to tell your mom that they’re fake or scams. It’s hard to break our mom’s hearts!
I did some searching on Ravelry, and I found a few!
Ravelry…. now there’s whole other rabbit hole to dive into…..
Thank you!
@Greenbriar – haha right?! You can find so much on Ravelry. It’s insane how many patterns are collected there!
@anon59397935 – You’re welcome!
When I lived in England I used to knit a lot.
I haven’t knitted in ages, firstly because the cats would mess up the yarn as I was trying to knit and second, not sure my arthritic hands and poor eyesight are up to it anymore.
I totally get the animal thing
my dog takes off with my yarn, both current projects and yarn that I forget to pick up. She’s physically eaten whole mini-skeins of yarn before… lol I hope you can pick up some knitting again, even if just for a few minutes at a time

It’s funny. I found one of those patterns when I was looking for patterns myself ![]()
