One for sorrow
Two for joy
Three fir a girl
Four for a boy
Five for young
Six for old
Seven for a secret,
Never to be told
I have always held the superstition about magpies and always salute one if I see them on their own! My friend had the idea that if she saw a single one and pointed it out to someone else then it would “break the sorrow.” She would make a circle with her thumb and index fingers and I would have to break through it with my pinkie. One time she saw one when driving and actually slammed the brakes and reversed so I would see it😂
