Hi everyone! I hope you don’t mind me rekindling this conversation, I’m really interested in astral travel/projection myself.
While lucid dreaming comes quite naturally to me, I’ve been so far unsuccessful in astral projection. Personally, I like to attempt it at my altar within a cast circle for protection; since I’ve never done it before, it’s also a little bit scary 
I like to listen to some guided meditation for astral projection (for example this one: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tDi2iTy4BkE&t=1523s), since it helps me concentrate and not get lost in my thoughts. I have been close a couple of times; you know the stage when you’re very relaxed and your body starts to vibrate? But at that point I usually get too excited about it and my concentration/relaxation slips 
I guess it just takes a lot of practice and patience, but I’m very curious to hear about everyone’s experiences with this
