Finding who I am all over again

Hello. I’m Holly I’m a new witch in one sense but I’m not a new witch when I was younger I was taught and after one fatal night I was in a fatal car crash that has wiped most of my memory way for years I didn’t understand why I was so drawn to learning wicca. What after years did not understanding I ran into an old friend that I forgot who they were due to memory loss of this person showed me a picture of me and her when I was younger. And told me that she and a friend of ours was my mentor. But do to the extent of damage that happened I forgot a lot of stuff so I’m relearning everything on my own because both my mentors are now dead.

Thank you Tracy what is the difference between Nordic and runic. And what would you suggest for a person like me I feel drawn to several ways. I have a deep fascination with Viking Greek and Celtic

Runic is the runes which are, I suppose the tarot of Nordic Witchcraft. Nordic is the word used to describe witches who follow Norse practices like Odin and Thor.

Maybe start by reading about the different practices and see what you feel drawn too. The search top right is good for finding stuff and there’s lots of lessons on the main Spells8 site. Just take your time, no hurry and see what you like :grin:

Welcome @holly9 ! Glad you have joined us! I’m from Minnesota and have been practicing many different aspects of the craft for 35+ years. I currently work with chaos magick, voodoo and divination

So sorry about the horrible accident and memory loss. I can’t imagine how horrible that would be. :people_hugging::people_hugging::people_hugging:

@tracyS has given you some good advice on finding your path. And if you find something you like and then decide it’s not for you it’s ok to change your path. And you don’t need to stick with just one path either.

If you ever have questions don’t be afraid to ask. This is a great group of practitioners and there is always someone to help guide you.

I’m sorry about your mentors passing. You now have an entire coven that will help you on your journey. :purple_heart::people_hugging:

Blessings :purple_heart::purple_heart::purple_heart:

Actually throughout the years I have gotten my memory back a little bit my first memory was my children and my mom my family but that was hell for about 3 months not remembering who they were but no throughout the years I’ve been getting it bits and pieces doctor said it’s not permanent it was the trigger of what happened as the doctors over the years have told me considering how bad it was my inner self or my mind just shut down because it didn’t want to remember there’s times I can be doing something and a song or a commercial or somebody can say something and it triggers a memory and when that happens it’s very interesting because I’m just sitting there remembering and I start crying for no reason I couldn’t be a good memory can be a bad memory I just start crying

From what I understand, the tears are normal. Songs and commercials are neither positive nor negative. Hopefully most of your other memories have been more positive.

Has anyone given you tips on how to handle things which may come up in the future? Sometimes when I read about amnesia, it seems cold and clinical rather than comforting or helpful. It would be super hard if the original memory blocker were to pop up unexpectedly and shut you down again just because you didn’t know how to deal with it or weren’t prepared.

Have you been studying anything about psychology? There might not be much to help, but if it were me, I’d want all the tools I could get, just in case.

Um… Does it bother you to talk about it like this? I don’t want to hurt you in any way. However, if I can help or offer you comfort, I would like to be here for you.

I did a bit of research back in the 1980’s. There wasn’t much available. However the subject interested me. I did have some theories, but they were unproven and could cause more harm than good. If you feel better off not knowing, follow that. This is purely your choice. After all, you are the one experiencing it, not me. I accept you as you are either way.
