Fun Friday (Part 3)

Yes! I was so excited and saw The Phantom Menace in theaters. Haven’t been back since.

Welcome to another round of Fun Friday, lovelies! Here is the place to let go of tension, troubles, and just relax and have some plain old silly fun. :smiling_face_with_three_hearts: I know I usually need it by the end of every week!

Here are this week’s questions:

  1. Today is National Have a Coke Day! This day commemorates Dr. John Pemberton’s creation of Coca-Cola, which was first sold on May 8, 1886, at Jacob’s Pharmacy in Atlanta, GA. (It was certainly a different formula than what we enjoy today.) In 1916, the iconic Coca-Cola bottle with its unique shape hit the market.

    Do you like Coca-Cola?
Who remembers the ad campaign that Coke ran years ago featuring the song: “I’d Like to Teach the World to Sing (In Perfect Harmony)”?

  2. If you were an Autobot, what kind of car would you transform yourself into?
*(Credit to our lovely @Amethyst for this question!)

  3. What animal best represents magick to you?

  4. Do you have eye floaters? (If you don’t understand the question, this means you probably don’t!)

  5. Do you like being barefoot outside?

I’ll be back later to check in and have my own answers. Have fun! :sparkling_heart: :dizzy:

Remember the fat slob who was the source- Jabba the Hutt, I mean.

In case you don’t,

The full song was by The New Seekers

When we had it in France, we were sure it was the old formula!

I can’t drink it anymore. Any carmel colored soda other than root beer causes nasty stomach cramps, so I avoid it as much as possible.

Go go gadget… Chitty Chitty Bang Bang! Part car, part boat, part airplane, all personality!

Whenever I see a crow or raven on a light pole, I say, “High Magic!”

I get the see through ones which look like germs in a microscope when I’m stressed- have ever since I was in high school. A neighbor suggested that the flashes of light I consider fairy visits are actually another type of floater.

I’ve gotten stung by bees on the bottoms of my feet often enough that I don’t go barefoot outside anymore. I used to enjoy the tickle of grass on my feet, but my mother was terrified of me stepping on a used needle, so I wasn’t allowed to go barefoot anywhere but Grandma’s by the kiddie pool. Besides, rocks are sharp, sidewalks in the sunshine are hot, and my feet have become way too sensitive from wearing home made moccasins for decades.

Where have we heard that one before? Just teasing. :people_hugging:

Yep

Do you like Coca-Cola?

I love CocaCola since I was a kid. When they changed to formula I stopped drinking it. Now that the original is back that is one of the few sodas I drink. HATE PEPSI !!!

what kind of car would you transform yourself into

A Jeep CJ lifted and outfitted for off road. I love to off road and be on the beach!!!

What animal best represents magick to you?

I know he is not really an animal. I have a similar tat on my shoulder, Got it on my one year anniversary of becoming a witch.

Do you like being barefoot outside

OMG yes. I hated shoes as a kid. If I could not go bare foot, it was flip flops. Now I live in NYC and really dont get to go bare that often.

I still like that song but I temper it with the thought that it is a blatant advertisement. “See the USA” originally by Dinah Shore is another that I like but feel a little used when I listen to it..
I’m drinking a Pepsi right now but I don’t mind Coke. The tastes are different but not remarkably so. I usually buy Pepsi

  • If you were an Autobot, what kind of car would you transform yourself into?

Mostly something that would go into space. A really good rocket.

  • What animal best represents magick to you?

You all know what I am going to say… so I won’t.

  • Do you have eye floaters? (If you don’t understand the question, this means you probably don’t!)

Yep. When I was a kid, I used to sit in a chair and blink and watch them. I was scared out of it when my Mom started thinking about taking me to a doctor.

  • Do you like being barefoot outside?

Nope. I’ve been too many places where it was a bad idea. I last went barefoot in Florida and got stung by a ground wasp (they are huge).

Aww.. heck. Gotta do this:

Aw, that’s too bad. I’ve outgrown the desire for most types of soda, but still like the flavor and it doesn’t affect me badly. 44

haha, great choice!

Yeppers, mine look more like that, too! Annoying little chasers.

Ouch! I’m amazed I’ve never been stung, as often as I’m outside barefoot! If I see a lot of clover I avoid it - maybe that’s the key.

Oh, I always come back to Fun Friday - and “later” is relative, dahling.

@tracyS -
Coca Cola (Is it) - 1980’s UK Advert

I’ve never seen this - I love it! :joy: Very in the time and place - so cool!

Gotta luv the Tasmanian devil, too! Who else can whizz around like a tornado and come to a complete stop? :smiling_face_with_three_hearts:

Concrete = hot! Blacktop roads = fry an egg on it!

:joy: You’re not alone! I think the company realized pretty quickly that they had made a terrible, terrible mistake with that “New Coke” and backtracked as fast as they could.

Love that Jeep CJ!!

Aww…M.I.C.K.E.Y.M.O.U.S.E! (I can still hear that song, he’s a classic!)

That’s sad! I feel ya, sister! But you’re right - NYC must be hard for bare feet - even in good walking sandals you don’t want to get stepped on! :foot:

I hadn’t thought about it for years until I came across the Have a Coke Day stuff - they were very proud of that ad campaign, and it seems like they still are. “See the USA” in your Chevrolet was also quite clever. Those Mad Men, they put out a lot of garbage but they did make things stick in your head - the whole point!

Wo0t! :rocket:

:folded_hands: And we all thank you, nugget.

But - I do love the meme! :dog:

eek! That’ll shut up a kid!

~1 I like both Coke and Pepsi, preferably out of a fountain dispenser on the rare occasions you can find them. But - I generally just don’t drink sodas anymore of any kind, try to stick to water or sparkling water (it makes me drink it more if it’s carbonated!).

~2 I would transform into a VW Microbus. My mind immediately went to this:

(Image from Pinterest)

A little old in the tooth, maybe - but I’ll safely get where I need to go - eventually. And most people will wave and smile when they see me coming!

~3 Cats. Always cats. How many ancient cultures were smart enough to worship their feline overlords? :cat: We have Bastet, the Egyptian goddess and daughter of Ra. There are symbols of large cat-headed gods throughout ancient Greek and Roman times, and great imagery of chariots being pulled by panthers. So awesome.

Here is Miss Finn, reclining in her regal position by the fire:

Such magickal pink toes! :pink_heart:

~4 I’ve had mostly clear bubble-type floaters since I was a kid. I’ve developed some darker ones in the last year or two - occasionally they bother me when I’m reading, but most often I don’t notice them. Bah!

~5 I love being barefoot outside! As I mentioned before, it’s a minor miracle I’ve never been stung since I tend to walk around with abandon. I really like my feet to be free and kick off shoes inside.

On the other hand, I really love fun shoes like Oxfords and awesome witchy boots, so clearly there are exceptions for everything!

Love the picture!

When I was young and immortal, a friend and I traveled all up and down and across the South to scuba diving areas in a Microbus. We had room for our gear and a makeshift bed and we would take turns driving. No motels or camping fees. It was so fun..

I never got a Microbus but really wanted one. When VW came out with the latest a couple of years ago, I decided I would trade what we had until I saw the price tag. My nose started bleeding.

I love Coke! I drink a lot of Cherry Coke, actually. That still counts, right? And yep, I remember the commercial! That song would get in your head and stay forever. Sheesh.

Glad I could inspire y’all! I’ve decided on a 1961 Cadillac convertible. One of my favorite TV shows was Forever Knight, and Nick Knight drove this car, and I always thought it was a classic! I’d have mine painted purple instead of teal, of course!

Oh, and in case you were wondering, Nick was a vampire who worked the graveyard shift as a cop. LOL! He drove this car because it had the biggest trunk space in case he got caught out during daylight.

Cats. They seem to know more than we think. And tend to turn up mysteriously. Well, except for orange cats. They tend to trip and fall into the wall. LOL!

Yes! One small one. It’s annoying. I can ignore it most of the time, and I’ll forget. Then I wonder why this gnat keeps in my face and I’ll remember. Sheesh.

I used to. But not anymore since I have nerve problems in my feet. Even when I’m barefoot, I feel like I have shoes on. It’s weirder in the grass.

I feel so sorry for you! That’s awful!

LOL! Good choice and great joke!

I don’t think anyone likes walking on hot concrete. Ew!

Great choice! What color?

Ouchie!

Love the gif! LOL!

Fountain Coke is better than anything else! Fight me!

LOL! At least it’s not the Partridge Family Bus!

Kitty toes! So cute!

@dan3

What color?

It depends my first choice would be purple, but because that would be a custom job and I would be using it,I would have to say a basic black so when it get scratched it would be easy to touch up!

The one we put a lot of miles on was the common orange with white top - which was easy to keep clean and stayed relatively cool in the Southern climates.

(web photo - ours never looked this good)

For new, I would go for white (which, remarkably, doesn’t show dirt), or white/powder blue. Where we are black is a tough color for the Summer.

Here are my answers

  1. Do you like Coca-Cola? Who remembers the ad campaign that Coke ran years ago featuring the song: “I’d Like to Teach the World to Sing (In Perfect Harmony)”?

:dotted_six_pointed_star: No I don’t remember that. But I loved the 2025 Christmas Ad “Holidays Are Coming” At the end of the AD It states Real Magic. Really beautiful with animals and wildlife it is on YouTube I would recommend watching it. I prefer Pepsi Max.

If you were an Autobot, what kind of car would you transform yourself into?
(Credit to our lovely @Amethyst for this question!

:dotted_six_pointed_star: I would be a F1 Meets Magic Broomstick inspired by Iconic Car Brands.

I would be the Magical Mini Broomstick :broom: as of course the Mini is British, I am only 4ft 11, slim build, nimble, agile, quick as I dash around everywhere and I can step into the unseen hedge.

 I attach photos of all the F1 Broomsticks which one would you be?

  1. What animal best represents magick to you?

:dotted_six_pointed_star: I feel all forms of life are magical in their own unique way.

  1. Do you have eye floaters? (If you don’t understand the question, this means you probably don’t!)

:dotted_six_pointed_star: Definitely yes in both eyes. It looks like black cobwebs. I have to use eye drops everyday as I also have dry eyes.

  1. Do you like being barefoot outside?

:dotted_six_pointed_star: Yes I love kicking off my slippers or flip-flops and walking barefoot whether it is inside or outside in my gardens at the beach if the sand is not too hot as much as I can as I feel that I am rooted and grounded.

Happy Saturday everyone :last_quarter_moon::green_heart:

These are great! I love the picture of the Magical Mini - it’s the only one whose seat has a nice spring for all that bouncing around!

I like this one, the VooDoo Beetle, and also the Fantasy Ferrari - it looks like the fastest!

So cute - thanks for posting these, @Moonbeam!

Yes I thought it was a great choice, the others are also tempting

In America, we used to have a road game wherein the VW Beatle was called a Slug Bug or a Pregnant Roller Skate. I still play with my driver, though no bruises, thank you. Rag tops are 5 points. Antique original Beatles are 10. Movies and ad replicas don’t count, but toys do. Any Teslas are half a point. Smart Cars are a quarter point because they are so tiny. We don’t really count up our points at the end of the day,so it doesn’t really matter, but it does keep our attention alert. I guess pointing out Slug Bugs got so popular that they caused accidents, so the dealers refused to put Beatles in their lots along the road, preferring to keep them closer to the building. If I were a broomstick, I’d be proud to be a VooDoo Beatle!

The reason we elders have been so careful when talking about the “original” Coca Cola is when it first came out, they actually put the chocolate leaf in the drink. That was outlawed as a narcotic. Yes, we thought the French Coke had chocolate leaf in it. Coke has been through several formula changes over time.

Forgive me. I couldn’t help thinking of the jokes my country cousins used to tell in our youth. “On a quiet night, you can hear a Chevy rust.” Or “FORD stood for Found On Road Dead.”

“Why? Because we love you!”- Disney.

Me too. I only wear socks in the winter or when I’m scared I didn’t get up the floor’s filth; mocs out in the halls to pick up mail or take out the trash just because we have no clue when those areas were last truly clean.

Nah. :brown_heart: I have too many fond memories of fountain jerks pulling A&W during thunderstorms in our 67 Ford Station Wagon with no back window. Lotsa duct tape right when MacGyver made the stuff popular!

Ooh! I love Fountain A&W! The canned or bottled just isn’t the same.

I think the Duct Tape people helped make that show, just to advertise! LOL!

Love the rust quip. The cars of that era (before the Japanese invasion that raised standards) were really subject to rust.

Our comment about Fords was "Fix Or Repair Daily’

Now it is not unusual to get well over 100,000 miles on a car and little or no rust Cars have gone way up in real cost but quality has improved, too.
