I haven’t been all that serious with it (cf. Chicken Dance). I end up stepping on more than I sweep. It can be hard on bare feet, so I end up rubbing more food off my feet when I sit down. Still seeking ways to make it more efficient. There is a plastic placemat on the floor, supposedly to catch the mess, but the bird aims across the room! I just sweep and scratch the mess closer to the placemat between cleansings.
I’ve tried those mop slippers. My feet are too sensitive. It was a good idea, though.
Oh, if you want to check out Meatloaf, the movie Rocky Horror Picture Show is a fun one. Meatloaf plays one of the minor characters. It is rated R. Otherwise, here is a link to some Meatloaf songs. Enjoy.
I guess it depends on the amount of candles one wants to make. I´m doing it in my kitchen, but also I´m only making candles for my own use or occasional gifts. I´m just pouring the wax into molds, this is not very messy. I´m just covering my working area with newspaper and it´s good.
Yes, beeswax is very expensive, hence the re-using, but it has a much longer burning time than paraffin. I´m using it only for certain spellwork or for deity worship, for example Aphrodite loves beeswax candles. I do use paraffin candles, too but I´m always opening up windows and airing out very well, because I´m aware that they can be harmful. Most of my candles are made with soy-wax, which is not as expensive as beeswax, and a good alternative because it´s more environmentally friendly and also non-toxic.
Right?? I just love books and book stores and public libraries. Here in Vienna every district has public libraries and then theres a huge on, like 20 minutes from my home, where I love to hang out. I like reading crime novels and whenever I´m bringing back the books, I´m leaving little cards in them, with a little collage, a positive affirmation or a few words of love for the next person who gets to read them.
Haha…yes! I don´t even collect a lot, because I´m a single mom and always on a budget, but I just keep creating things, that then want to live in my home. And this is something I´m allowing myself to do freely, since all my life I had to cut back on my creativity. I have an adhd brain, so when a new creative hyperfixation hits me, I don´t have a choice but to follow the call.
Just wanted to pop in and say hi! I’m Bry, one of the moderators and an Eclectic Witch. It’s very nice to meet you
It’s not nearly as fun as the dancing cleanse you do! My current cleanse is a combo of meditation music and candles. I like to open the windows and let fresh air flow through when I can, but that’s a seasonal treat! Spring cannot get here soon enough
Please make yourself at home here, Lilu! I’m looking forward to crossing paths with you around the forum. Blessed be!
Thank you!!
Love classic rock but I have never dove into the symphonic metal genre. I would definitely have to check them out (especially now it is the weekend). Love a good head banger every now and then and who knows… I might be like you and enjoy it! I appreciate the suggestions.
Merry Meet Dan!
Thank you for welcoming me and I appreciate your feedback
Belief systems… I would have to ask what that might entail? Chaos magick is interesting! I fear I too have leaned toward that side of the realm as well, but I am doing my best to be more specific with my castings
thank you for your comment and welcomings!
Hello Colin!
Thank you for your response on my post. I have never been to Canada! What is your favorite part about living there??
I believe three times is significant in ANY form of cleansing. I cannot explain it but it is a power number for sure.
Six years is a long time! I look back and think to myself “Ive come so far… thank the heavens I dont have to learn all of that again!”
I appreciate your response, thank you Colin!
My Witch name is Jeannie Im thinking about changing my name but I just wanted to introduce myself. I live in California and I just did a spell and well looks as though it worked. I wanted to try to get that extra help in the spiritual world and it worked. I did a spell which was simple to get a job. I just learned you dont want to do more than one spell in one day, and I am glad I found that out the other day. I would not know what I know thanks to Spells 8 Infinite Roots. I am hoping to connect and see your magicK!! I cant wait to see your creativity!!! I have been practicing but to be honest i LOVE meeting new people! I hope to see you on the forum ! I just wanted to give you a warm welcome and hold space for you!
I actually practicve chigong in the morning but never did it naked but to each there own! Im working out at the gym and went into the sweat lounge to get all the toxins out! Then I take a cold shower cause I cant take baths. I use A salt scrub and exfoliate all the negative and let it go down the drain. If I feel a neg vibe sometimes I will wash my hands as a ritual just to feel clean and new. I also burn sage in the house and like to have some spiritual music in the background.
I did this routine by jumping up and down as hard as I can and I felt so much better. Sometimes I have to do it for a long time before it starts to work! This is doing spiritual work huh
Jeannie
Merry Meet Eira!
I enjoyed reading your feedback, thank you for your kindness and insight, I thoroughly enjoyed reviewing your post.
Thank you for recognizing the more uncomfortable parts of my post, where those who do not want to discuss or even touch that sore subject with a 10-foot pole, as unfortunately we have been disowned by those who are not yet awake in this lifetime. Fortunately, we have access to places like this website where we can not feel so isolated and alone. I love the “unapologetic presence” statement, that part gave me chills.
What is Oracle and Lenormand magick? I want to know it all!! I am all about expanding. I believe it is better to admit you do not know everything and to stay open to others’ perspectives, you dont look so ridiculous in the end.
I will be honest my dear Eira, I was scared to post my cleansing method, as it is very strange and “wacky” but I am glad you got a kick out of it! I have to stretch and practice breathing before I start as well. It is good to start with a clean slate and work that “trauma energy” out of your physical.
I believe your wacky way is valid! Imagination is apart of manifestation, and you are actively, in the present moment, placing yourself in a position to literally SWEEP the stagnant or stale energy out. I can get on the train of seeing that as a way to clean out your space effectively. I also love the self-care at the end because thats all witchy too!
Thank you for welcoming me again, please message me anytime!
This is amazing, I love it! I dont like walking through my house without socks because of the stuff that can collect so I would not be happy with bird food sticking to my feet. How funny!!
I used to watch that all the time I had no idea!! Love RHPS!!!
Studying belief systems is part of Chaos. It can be implemented in may ways and most practitioners of Chaos are at different places - which is OK. Here is a summary of the way I look at Chaos.
There are about 4200 active religions in the world. There are many times that number of inactive ones. Billions believe in Christianity. Billions are followers of Islam. Millions in other religions. Most believe in exclusivity. They can’t all be right. Conversely, denying their beliefs outright is also exclusivity. They all bring power and good in their own way.
The end game on this approach is to be aware of what is out there. Discussions about whether there are many spirits, one spirit or no spirit but just energy are salient and build awareness of the whole approach/picture. Are They All The Same?
Chaos, to me, is a system to explore those ideas. It is ‘OK’ to connect to a belief, or spirit, or deity, or energy if that blows your knickers up . It does not practice exclusivity. My approach does have warts but that is common with all systems.
Chaos is a long term path. There are a couple of great threads here on Spell8 about it.
With me it’s not bird seed but cat litter, so I can absolutely relate! I have to wear slippers indoors at all times. We have three cats (at one time many years ago there were 13) and they track litter everywhere!
That IS very true, it is dependent on how many you want to make. I see some women on tik tok and their candle making stations and heavens its a lot of mess. I am OCD so it makes my skin crawl lol, but I am glad you keep it clean. If I ever received a home made candle from someone I would never light it… its so precious!! I figured it would be expensive material, maybe there’s a thrift store you can go to and find old candles? A lot of people throw them out but dont throw them away because there are people like you and I who will hoard “trash”. I love my trash
I have nothing but soy candles in my home so I agree with your last statement there on being healthier!
There is something so healing about a library… the smell, the warmth, the wisdom. It is such a friendly experience. Are the libraries huge in Vienna? I do not know much about the area.
That is SO CUTE you put cards and affirmations!! And they say witches are monsters
I am sure youre the type to create something out of anything, and I love that! There is no problem with ADHD brain, it is quite literally your super power.
Where in TX are you? I was Mrs. El Paso 1999. Lived in Laredo for 3 years (can’t pay me to live there again!!). Family all around Dallas (Denton, Keller, Richardson, Commerce). My g-grandma built her house from rocks from the fields of her house in the 1920’s. They lost land for “imminent domain” for the freeway, I believe I-35. She taught me how to ride horses!! She taught me lots!
I love your room cleansing. I have used bells around the house for cleansing before. One time, one room I entered, the bells were barely making a sound. I “refreshed” that room many times. I really like your routine!!!
Just like in the old days, the best place for candle making is outside. It was a Fall task (mostly Fall because of the availability of the right stuff (tallow, blubber, beeswax)). I’ve made them outside in good weather.
Looks like @Eira_of_the_Living_Hearth hasn’t been in to answer your question as yet. You have heard of tarot cards? Oracle and Lenormand are cards as well. They tend to have themes, not always similar to tarot, but are read in a similar fashion. Forgive me for not having links handy for the moment, but check out Merry Meet Monday initial post for tarot and Lenormand activities. Eira also made a beautiful set of oracle cards of her own for last month’s activities.
Here’s a link to the Lenormand thread for March. The cards come in a deck much smaller than tarot, making this system very approachable. @dan3 hosts this every month.
My name is Kat, and I practice bioregional animism grounded in the North Carolina Piedmont, blending science and magick. I’ve been practicing for over 30 years. I create divination tools adapted to my local ecosystem, including ogham staves and seasonal tree sets. I also read tarot. I’ve studied herbalism, make my own herbal teas, and enjoy working in herb and vegetable gardens. My practice is hands-on: I craft tools, make runes and deity figurines, and bind my own journals.
As to wackiest cleansing methods, I’m afraid I’m rather tame in that department. I tend to use light (sun or moon), fresh air, water and salt (both regular and black).
There is a wonderful search function that will help you dig for more information in the forums!
We’re glad you’re here. Make yourself comfortable, explore at your own pace, and feel free to ask any questions you might have!
I prefer the Lenormand cards, only because they seem simpler. I feel that working with Lenormand first, is good preparation for reading tarot. I started with tarot a few years ago, but have become more proficient in tarot, since finding Lenormand cards around November. We have Tarot posts and Lenormand posts, feel free to jump in anytime.
