Hi all, I joined Spells8 in 2025 briefly and you were all so welcoming…but then I had to cancel my membership because I learned that I was going to lose my job. None of the spells I attempted saved me. I was in hell for several months, constantly terrified that I wouldn’t be able to pay my rent that month and always on the verge of getting my electric and cell phone services disconnected. I landed two awful jobs that paid very little and I was treated horribly by my bosses. Then, just when I was out of time and money, I landed a high paying 4-month contract job. Had the contract lasted the full 4 months, I would’ve been able to save enough money for several months’ rent past the end of the contract. However, although they’re very happy with me, they’re now decided to end the contract a full 6 weeks early, at the end of June, because people are returning from maternity leave earlier than expected. I’m devastated, as this doesn’t give me enough time. I still haven’t recovered mentally or financially from that wretched time between contract jobs. And now, with a brutal job market and meager savings, I find myself once again facing the possibility of losing the only thing that makes me happy: my life here in coastal central FL, with stunning foliage, wonderful animals like parrots and dolphins and abundant sunshine. I get frustrated trying to explain this to people, but the natural world here is part of who I am. It IS me. If I’m forced to move back north, I’ll lose myself. I truly will. I lost my soul dog last year, all my friends have let me down and abandoned me in my time of need and now I face the final blow that has the power to destroy me. Stage 4 cancer couldn’t do it, ending up alone without friends and my soul dog couldn’t do it, the social rejection I’ve faced for being happily single and childless couldn’t do it…but losing my life here will do it. I’ve remembered your kindness and warm welcome last year, and I’ve come back pleading with you to please keep me in your thoughts and, if it’s not too much trouble, to include me in some small way in your spell work. I know I’m being selfish; I admit it. But I’ve run out of hope. For the first time in my life, I feel hopeless. And I’ve lost faith in my own magickal abilities. Mine failed abysmally. I’d also like to ask a question. Throughout my previous horrific period of time, and again since I got the news of my contract ending early, I’ve seen and heard owls daily/nightly - not in real life, but on TV shows, in pictures, videos, etc. There are so many possible meanings for owl sightings, I’m confused about what they could mean. Do you know if they have a meaning in magick? I’m desperately seeking any small measure of comfort to provide even the slightest relief from the tremendous mental and emotional pain I’m in. Thoughtful Thursday Irene, Welcome back, albeit for an unfortunate reason, but welcome back to the pack!!🐺 🦉 I am not well-versed in what animals mean spiritually. I know that owls represent wisdom and knowledge. Seems that some news might be coming your way. Keep all your senses tuned. Maybe it is a way to stay where you are. Maybe it is new friendship down in FL. Did you have some relationship with an owl, a person who loved owls, someone whom you consider wise? Maybe they are reaching out to you. Hi Lady Gene, Thank you for your warmth and kindness, it means a lot to me. 🤗 Although I love birds as a whole, owls aren’t among my favorites. Parrots are my number one favorite, with hummingbirds, peacocks, pelicans and all shore birds rounding out my favorites in no particular order. Don’t get me wrong, owls are lovely…but I never really thought of them at all before this. So, I’m totally baffled. I don’t understand why I keep seeing them every time I go through adversity in the last 6 months or so. I wish the sightings meant that I’d find way to stay here; I can live without friends, despite feeling lonely at times. But I can’t live without the natural world and sunshine here. I just can’t. Hey there! Welcome back. I’m sorry you’ve had such a crappy time. It sounds awful. I’m sending you love and good energy. While owls might be first thought of with Athena, for some reason, I remembered the Welsh goddess Blodeuwedd. She was made from nine different flowers, so she is a goddess of Spring. She was made to be a dutiful wife for the hero Lleu Llaw Gyffes. His mother had cursed him never to have a human wife so they made Blodeuwedd for him. Which, when you think about it, is kind of icky. They didn’t give her any agency or ask her opinion. So when she fell in love with someone else, of course her and her lover conspired to kill off hubby. It didn’t work, and as punishment, she was turned into an owl. From what little I’ve found just this morning, Blodeuwedd is now considered a goddess of sovereignty and of betrayal. Maybe something in her is speaking to you, since it sounds like you’ve been betrayed by your various employers. Just a thought. Here are a few places I found information on her. @Irenebean Merry Meet I am so so sorry to hear that this is happening/ed to you. I totally understand your feelings. Its a long story, I will give you the short version. I moved to upstate NY with my partner, left family and friends.We moved to open a business in a small town. Well, it turned out we were swiddled,lied to and just plainly CRAPPED ON. All the money we had went to open this business. We were evicted from the place we were living and had no money. We found jobs and were able to move to another place. We had to tough time of it. Now I am living in NYC and things are working out. If you ever just want to chat I am totally open to it. In the meantime I am sending pure energy and postitve thoughts your way.
