Interesting...Do You Use A Title?

I have a Facebook Page and Private Witchy Group. I am also a member to SEVERAL witchy groups on Facebook…and Constantly I see arguments over the term “baby witch”.

It usually ends up with a lot of fighting, but that seems typical on Facebook. However, I decided I would try my hand at something and more or less experiment and see where my post would lead. It turned out to be a HOT topic and only one person got kinda egotistical on it…so ALL things considered it was a great topic for debate. I thought I’d share it here too and see what your take is on it.

As you can see the topic was VERY hot.

Here is the original Post

I see a lot of newer people entering into the craft and because we are a society that feels the need to label every blessed thing, some new terms have been created.

They call themselves ‘baby witch’ or ‘witchling’ and I have even seen people call themselves …get ready… ‘fetus witch’. Yes…that last one made me cringe. :unamused:

I mean honestly…it’s your practice and your label (if you feel you need a label) call yourself chicken soup if you want.

But my inner crone is strong…so I am going to give you a suggested list that in my humble opinion sounds better than FETUS witch! :woman_facepalming:OY! lol

Novice: 0-6 months
Apprentice: 1-2 years
Adept: 2-5 years
Acolyte: 6-20 years
Elder: 20+ years

At the end of the day we are all witches and practice to the best of our abilities and most witches practice with the best intentions. The most important thing is to be safe in your practice and be willing to be open to learn something new.

Even as an Elder we still learn. Blessed be.

Fetus witches?!!

I feel the term “baby” is definitely infantilizing but it’s just a slang that somehow caught on. So, why not?

In my opinion, people should feel good calling themselves whatever they want… But I also understand that words matter and have power, especially regarding our identity.

I like the terms “seeker”, “student”, “beginner”, “newcomer”… but then again, it’s more fun to come up with new labels that are unique to our craft!

I strongly agree with this @Francisco

I don’t use a title or a label personally because some practices have been with me for years (tarot reading, manifestation, moon rituals and crystal work) some since birth (auras, moon empathy) and some are very new (herb work, spell work).

I have no idea what I am but my husband calls me a woo woman :joy:

Fetus witch might be the worst label I’ve ever heard

I see a lot of people call themselves a baby witch on youtube. Like they said they are new and take baby steps to learn. Doesn’t matter to me what they call themselves. Most have no idea what these mean

My husband lets me do my thing, he totally doesn’t get it at all…but supports me…but it does come with mocking. LOL All done with love of course.

I was setting up a spell yesterday and he asked if this was “the big” that would turn him into a toad. I said, “of course, but it’s a slug, not a toad.” He chuckled nervously. LOL!

Haha…I mean at the end of the day, people can call themselves anything they want. It doesn’t effect me or my practice…but “fetus” witch made me cringe slightly… LOL!
