Hello! I am a baby solitary practitioner and have a long introduction ahead! I have been actively practicing since the beginning of 2021 but have been exposed since I was a teenager as my mother is an eclectic Wiccan after converting from Roman Catholicism.
I have always been fascinated with pagan beliefs and the Greek mythology but I didn’t follow my path as I didn’t want to be like my mom (teenagers right??). I knew Christianity wasn’t right for me and for a long time I believed I was atheist. The last year though, I had some major life changes and I knew deep down that there was something larger “in charge”.
After research, I came full circle back to the pagan beliefs I was drawn to as a child. I am currently blending Wiccan and Hellenistic Paganism to create my own path. I have several Greek deities I work with, my patrons being Selene and Apollo. I follow mostly green witch magick but am open to learning anything that calls to me.
Also, my mother and I have both had readings done that have told us that we come from a long line of witches and that I (in her case she was told her eldest daughter) have great power in me if I just listen to my intuition/spirt guides. My mother is adopted so we don’t know our heritage though. I can say though that once I have stopped and began listening, the flood gates opened!
I am excited to be part of this community to continue to learn as I have always had a passions to continue to learn. If you read this far, Blessed be!!
Hi @Amaris_Bane! I’m Amethyst from Southern West Virginia. Welcome to the coven!
Did you see today’s Merry Meet Monday- Forum News post? It’s a great way to catch up on what activities are going on and what’s going on with people in the coven. I’m happy to have met you, I hope to get to know you better soon!
Hi Jessica,
It is so nice to know that your family Came for my heritage of witches! Either way if you don’t know your other side You can always explore. I know that you were atheist and believing in something is important. Sounds like you have came along way from different perspectives! I am glad you found your adopted family here on infinite Roots

@Jeannie1: We have both done Ancestry DNA tests but they are not really leading anywhere. We keep getting connections for 4+ cousins but not any direct connections. We keep researching though! My dad’s side is pretty well traced thanks to my Grandmother Clay’s work. I need to research some of those names further though. I know I am Irish (66%) and Scottish (24%) with a dash of Portuguese and Welsh (which was settled by the Celtic so makes since). I was honestly expecting Celtic deities to reach out based on my heritage and was busy researching them but the Greeks decided I was theirs.

I believe I also am a descendent of the Celtics.
Beginning in about 2500 B.C., successive waves of tribes settled in the region. These tribes are often called Celts. The Celts were not a nation in any sense, but a widespread group of tribes that shared a common cultural and linguistic background. Originating in central Europe, they spread through most of western Europe, the British Isles, and the Iberian Peninsula. Their dominance could not withstand the rise of the Roman Empire, however.
After defeating the Celts of Gaul (modern-day France and surrounding areas), the Romans invaded the British Isles in 43 A.D. Most of southern Britain was conquered and occupied over the course of a few decades and became the Roman province of Britannia. Hadrian’s Wall, in the north of England, marked the approximate extent of Roman control. The Roman presence largely wiped out most traces of earlier cultures in England—even replacing the language with Latin.
I got this information from DNA. How cool thank you for sharing!
Jeannie
Thank you all for the warm welcomes!! Being raised in the conservative south it is great to be in a place that is so welcoming.
@BryWisteria: thank you for helping Liisa and sharing the link to the courses. I’ll be sure to check them out.
@IrisW: My tagline started with a tank top that my sister bought me very similar to the t-shirt you shared! It has now morphed into my identity across social media platforms, lol.
@Jeannie1: isn’t it cool?? I worked for 4 years at a genetics laboratory that did genetic disease testing so genetics fascinates me.
