~New Celtic Tree Month~

On Wednesday, September 30th we leave behind the Celtic Vine Month and enter the next period in the Celtic Tree Calendar- The Ivy Month :herb:

Learn Religions lists the Ivy Month as a time of reflection, as ivy often lives on after it’s host plant has died or passed for the season. Ivy is a reminder that the wheel of the seasons continues and life goes on even in the darker months of the year. You can read more about the Ivy Month and types of magick potent during this time of year on Learn Religions: The 13 Celtic Tree Months :deciduous_tree:

~Moon Phase: Full Moon~

This Thursday, October 1st we will be blessed with the light of the Full Harvest Moon! :full_moon:

For the exact time of the full moon in your location, you can use the Moon Phase Calendar in the Old Farmer’s Almanac.

[Picture from Old Farmer’s Almanac: October Full Moons]

The harvest moon commonly falls in September but is actually the name given to the first full moon after the Autumn Equinox/Mabon. Because of this, the October Full Moon (usually called the Blood Moon :drop_of_blood:) takes on the name Harvest Moon :ear_of_rice:

October is an extra special month this year, as it has not one- but two full moons. The second full moon within one month is given the name Blue Moon, and only happens once every few years. To top it off, the next Blue Full Moon will happen this Halloween!

Full-Moon-Ritual-Spells

Full moons are a time of powerful cosmic energy and are the most popular moon phase for witches of all traditions to draw upon. The Magic in the Moon page notes that the full moon marks a period of fulfillment. Now is a great time to do ritual baths, charge your crystals and tools, and do spellwork! :sparkles:

You can learn more in the Moon Magick: Full Moon Magick guide. For spells, rituals, and information specifically for this week’s full moon, visit the Harvest Full Moon Ritual & Spell page:

~Festival of Bacchus~

On Saturday, October 3rd some traditions celebrate the wild and party-loving Roman deity Bacchus. Known in Greek traditions as Dionysus, this diety was a popular symbol of grapes and wine-making as well the harvest and fertility :grapes:

Celebrations for this much-loved god usually involve wine, feasting, and fun revelry :wine_glass:

You can learn more about Bacchus/Dionysus on his dedicated page on Learn Regions, Wikipedia, or in this fun video by Scarlet Ravenswood on YouTube:

I honestly couldn’t tell you what I will be doing this week. I know that today I am getting my hair done and that’s about it. So many things going on right now my head is spinning. I feel anxious because on Wednesday I have my follow-up appointment on my hand but I also have another surgical consult for my piriformis and hip. Good times! I’m looking forward to getting through the week and things going to back to a regular routine around here.

I’m still on Family Leave as I recover. I see three specialists this week and they’ll decide if I should go back to work or stay on leave for up to 4 more weeks. :grimacing:

My wife bought me a whole new :candle: set so magic is definitely happening during the full :full_moon:. I can’t wait for the blue moon on Halloween!

I know this happened yesterday but I started my week with a walk to raise :moneybag: and awareness for suicide prevention. This was my first year of doing this but I walked with a couple veterans of the cause and we talked about family and friends that struggled with this issue while on the walk. (I’m the one wearing the beads and holding the water.)

As always, thank you @BryWisteria, for doing this every Monday. It means a lot seeing what’s ahead for the week and what others in the online coven are up to.

I’m so glad you made the walk! I usually walk for autism, suicide, any kind of cancer, MS, walks for wishes (make a wish foundation) and leukemia. I do love walking!

I’m just going to do the harvest spell my only plans are school, school, and school! My classes and my kids. I’vee been so fatigued. So maybe this week holds a nap for me somewhere

Aww, thank you so much all! I feel like blushing. Thank you!

As for this week, I’m going to try to do the Harvest Moon ritual but switch it to an indoors type of thing. Other than that, now that I’ve finished my witchy book, I can read a Spencer novel and not feel too bad about it! LOL.

I was wondering, do you want the book challenge done in a form of a book report, or just a short description? Cause I took notes. :books:

Great post for a slightly overcast, lazy Monday!

This week, I plan to clean & revamp my altar space! Tonight, I’m going to do that & also write up a post for this weekend’s challenge! Not only have I been diving into my Solitary Witch Spellbook, I’ve finished one novel & am on to the 2nd. I even charged up my Kindle, since so many people have been sharing their Kindle finds!

I’m excited for the Full Moon (as always!), I’ll be doing the ritual you shared, and revisit my abundance spell jar that I put together last full moon! I’ve been taking it out every few days – holding it, shaking it up & putting energy towards the spell! My financial situation is switching itself around, penny by penny, so its definitely coming to fruition.

I’m just looking forward to a fulfilling week, ending with a family trip to the Prairie Peddler on Sunday. It’s an annual adventure for the women in my family. It’s a little craft/handmade goods traveling shopping event, set out in the woods of the Amish country of Ohio. I always make it a point to eat a big fat turkey leg and grab beautiful handmade soaps, etc.

I hope everyone else is feeling as motivated and excited for the week as I am.

Ohhh do you still have the hair braids and charms, or are you going for a new look this time? Getting a new hair-do always marks a fresh, clean start! I hope this week passes smoothly and all of your appointments are quick and easy, Krissie! Good luck :two_hearts:

You are very welcome- I have a lot of fun writing up the weekly news and I’m so happy you find it interesting! :smiling_face_with_three_hearts:

And a big congrats to you, @praecog29! What a wonderful thing to be a part of- it sounds like you met some other very warm-hearted people on the walk too. Good for you! :two_hearts: And that is very exciting about the new candle set- hooray for full moon magick! :full_moon::candle:

You are one busy witch, Christina! :astonished: I hope you can find some time for a nice relaxing nap and can enjoy some self-care time after all that hard work and study! Good luck and take care! :two_hearts:

Congrats on finishing your witchy book, Kasie! :raised_hands: You are free to share as much as you’d like about your book- if you want to write up a book report, I am sure others are happy to read it and learn from your notes- I know I am!:two_hearts:

You have a very exciting week ahead, Haley! :star_struck: I’m so happy to hear the abundance spell jar is working so well for you- nicely done! The craft fair sounds amazing  I love those huge festival turkey legs- I used to get them at King Richard’s Renaissance Faire! :poultry_leg: Enjoy one for me this week

Congrats on finishing your novel for the challenge and I’m wishing you a very blessed Full Harvest Moon ritual! :full_moon:

I’m going to post my full book report, which I managed to cut down to a page and a half from seven pages of notes. A lot of the notes were redundant. But it was a good book. So I’m happy I reread it!

Missed this yesterday, it was my Son’s bday, he turned 28! Yesterday also was part 2 to this heavy funk I’ve had…today I’m determined to shake it off.
I will be doing the harvest moon spell Thursday. Today I hope to color the harvest moon mindful page so as to put it up on my board. I’m thinking I’ll probably create my book of mirrors this week too. Oh thanks to @Abs53 for the Netflix recommendation of Ratched, I’ll be finishing that up this week too!
Blessed Be!

Your book write-up on Embracing the Moon was a delight to read, Kasie! :smiling_face_with_three_hearts: Thanks again for sharing- it made me really want to read it (especially about the tea recipes!) :two_hearts:

Happy Birthday to your son! :cake::partying_face: Hope he had a good one- sorry your funk was weighing you down. I know a few people have mentioned feeling kind of funky lately- could be that retrograde shadow affecting you too.

Hopefully a little full moon magick will help to bring good energies back! :full_moon::sparkles: Have a very blessed Harvest moon ritual, Tamera!

I like what your doing and have lots of respect for someone who walks for people who suffer with suicidal tendencies! Suicidal tendencies is not talked about but at least you you pull your feet up by the straps and walk! More people should be aware! I hope you feel protected while your doing what your called to do! It’s not easy being different than others and I think your making a difference. I wish someone would have helped my husbands dad before he shot a killed himself! But it’s comforting knowing people like you are trying to make this world a better place! Blessed be love and light even when it seems all dark! Shine that light!!!

I wound up having a pretty entertaining week. I’m actively taking control of my anxiety again… working on that now. I just finished journaling for the first time in a couple of weeks. Now I am going to drink some coffee and I have to stay up because my son goes to work early today.

So sorry to hear about your father-in-law, Valerie. I agree that walks to raise awareness for suicide prevention are so important- just like making it more common to talk about such things! They are important issues and it is wonderful when a community comes together to be strong :two_hearts: And I just want to say that your positivity is inspiring!

Nicely done, Krissie! Sounds like you are making your way back into a routine as you heal and recovery from your surgeries and appointments. I hope everything is going well and that this week brings your more peaceful moments and successes! :smiling_face_with_three_hearts:

I have been trying to get back into my routine as I stay in my little shell. I have to or I’ll get stuck here. Journaling really helped me get out what I was feeling. So I have gotten that far. I may have to start with the guided meditations over again, but that’s okay as long as I’m moving forward from here.
