It totally skipped my mind, but today is the start of the Olympic Games in Paris!
It will be intresting to watch as they mentioned that it will be the first time not held in a stadium but across the river Seine and the athletes parade will be on boats sailing the river?
According to NBC, it is rumored that Lady Gaga and Celine Dion will perform at the cermony.
I must live under a rock because I didn’t even realize it was time for the Olympics again… 
what’s funny to me is that it’s coming just in time for Lughnasadh, a time when the Tailteann Games were held!
Kinda the same. I knew about the games because I was watching some of the preolympic basketball games, but I lost track of time xD I hears it on the radio news and I was “wait whaat?”
Ah, they always start around that time end of July or start of August
Same, pretty much. The only reason I had any idea they were this year at all or coming up was because my manager has taken 5 weeks off to go to them. 
Y’all, I am an Olympic junkie (which is funny because other than the Olympics and a random baseball game here and there… I don’t do sports). There’s something about the spirit of most of the atheletes and the music and the ritual (I’m drawn to rituals these days) that just brings me joy. I cry so much during the ceremonies that it’s not even funny!
The opening ceremonies last night were beautiful! They are honestly my very favorite to date and I have watched every. single. opening ceremony since I can remember. I love that they used the river and the rooftops, I love that the bells of Notre Dame rang for the first time since the fire last night, I love that the parade of nations was embedded between all the performances, I love that Celine Dion gave such an amazing and emotional performance despite her ongoing health issues. You could see how much it meant to her on her face.
I’ve been to Paris (spent a month there when I was in college) and it really is an absolutely amazing city. I love that they imagined an opening ceremony so differently… and then went for it! It was incredible!
I’m not much into the Olympics themselves though I will casually watch certain sports but I definitely enjoyed the opening ceremony, especially when Gojira performed
