Playing with AI

Hope this is okay to post. Please delete if not.

I had asked the other day if anyone had ordered from Mystic Eden and @MeganB did some exploring and pointed out that the images used on the shirts were AI generated. That got me thinking about AI, which I actually used CoPilot in Microsoft to help me finish a chant I was trying to work on.
So today I headed over to Bing’s image creator, thought about some of the witchy images I have seen online, in Wicca magazine etc, that appear to be AI generated and thought of a prompt that might produce the sort of image I had in mind. Then I had a go at it. Quite a fun way to spend a rainy morning. But you do have to count the fingers – out of the four images it gave me, one had six fingers, and another had three fingers and a thumb.

haha yes, generative AI is really bad at creating people. Small details are often left out such as fingers, toes, eyes, etc.

You created a beautiful image, though!

I might make a sticker out of it for my grimoire, lol.

I had another go, and discovered that AI does not understand the meaning of
“crone” – three of the four images it gave me at first had full white beards! LOL.

Yeah. Unicorns have anywhere from one to five horns in AI. When I first saw such things I wondered if the artists didn’t understand that “unus, one and cornu a horn.”

I’ve played with it a bit and like you and others have pointed out, double check the image. However, it is a neat toy and can create some great imaginary scenes. Making a sticker (or stickers) for a journal would be cool and lots easier than Photoshop.

Yeah it can get kind of wonky sometimes. I was trying to create an image for a poem I was sharing on Instagram and asked it to create a woman walking down a forest path carrying a lantern and the lantern was behind her back in front of her hand (not hanging down as a lantern naturally would if carried) and the proportion of the hands and arms was “off”. It took like 7 or 8 times trying to word it very precisely to get it right.

When I first tried it in 2023, I wanted a picture of a horse. It was practically impossible to get a horse with four legs! But I finally managed to get one I liked, to honor my horse, Star, that had died earlier that year. It looks just like her too.

That is really beautiful. I’m so glad you were able to.
