Posting from phone question

Y’all my computer has given up the ghost. I don’t even know if it’s my tower or the monitor. It will be a while before I can replace it. Which sucks since I had all my recipes bookmarked on it and everything.

Meanwhile, I’m posting from my phone. And I’ve tried and tried but I can’t figure out how to highlight with my finger so I can answer to only part of the conversation.

Help? How do I do it?

Thanks for the help!

Do you mean quoting text like this?

Do you have an iPhone?
If so you hold your finger down until you see a word highlighted, like this in this screenshot:

Then you pull those little blue dots to extend the highlighting as far as you’d like and then choose “quote”

Hope I’m making sense!

It’s basically the same on Galaxy. The blue flags have a shorter stem - the rest works the same way.

@Amethyst - if your hard drive didn’t fail completely then you can transfer files from it. Ask a local geek (computer store?). In any case, if the hard drive needs replaced, don’t throw it away or allow the shop to keep it until you figure out whether your new computer can spin it up and draw off the files.

I use my phone exclusively, here’s the android version: so to hilight:

Using your finger press and hold for a second to connect onto the first part of the sentence you want to hilight then keeping your finger on that section slowly drag it across and stop when you’re done. It will hilight and show the word quote.

Then tap with your finger onto quote

It will appear in your post like this.

Carry on doing your post then click on reply

Hope this helps. There is a post that shows how to do all these things on your phone. I will go hunting

Yay! I did it everyone! Thanks for all the help!

The building manager is a computer guy, so I’m going to ask him to see what is wrong with it and how to transfer the files. So we’ll see.

I’m hoping it’s a simple fix, and that it’s a problem with the operator. Lol! I won’t have the extra cash to fix it till next month sometime.

It helped a lot! I read over everyone’s answers and finally figured it out! Thank you so much for the step by step pictures!

I don’t have a gif collection. Weird, I know. Lol.

Thanks again everyone! :smiling_face_with_three_hearts:

It did! Thank you!

I may do that. Right now my biggest problem is that I accidentally unplugged my monitor and something is wrong with the plug. It won’t plug back in. Sally couldn’t get it either, so I’ve got a call into my building manager.

He went to college for computers, so I’m hoping he can help me.

I’m sure it’s an operator problem, I just don’t know what! Lol!

okay so look at the cable if its hdmi you want to basiclly look at your moniter and put it in the matching slot and the same on the pc. if it is a display port one side will have a slanted spot. you just need to match that to the back of the pc and moniter. you will also want to check your power cable as well they can wiggle loose with time

I know where this cable goes, it just won’t go there. So I’m hoping it’s just broken and I can get a new cable. We’ll see.

Thanks for the help, though!
