Yes, the Hogwarts Express crossed it in the movie. Google has a lot of info and photos.
@Greenbriar thank you I have found a website Scotlands Wild. ![]()

Wow! Looks like something right out of Highlander! Awesome views! Thank you for sharing!
Beautiful! Mountains must be in my blood as well as bagpipes. Steam trains are too.
Mom swore the ocean was in her blood, like this. She enjoyed lighthouses and tall ships. I was able to gift her with both in one last trip before her health slipped out from under her.
Today’s travels took us round the northern end of Skye, with lots of folklore stories of giants and fairies, and back over to the mainland to our accomodations in Inverness.
Looks like our Wi-Fi is too slow to upload pics, so I may not be able to upload any more until we get back to Edinburgh.
Tomorrow we are Nessie hunting!
Yes I have heard of the Land of The Giants in Scotland. I would love to live in one of those houses just a few neighbours peaceful I can dream! The thistle has come into bloom lovely. All your photos are stunning. Yes Wi-Fi is not great mine where I live is really slow even though we have boosters.
Good luck hoping you see something.
Thank you for the update ![]()

Fabulous pictures! Skye looks like something out of fairy tales.
I think the overcast skies and the mist only add to the whole lovely feel of this place.
Just beautiful! I never saw any Harry Potter movies but it seems like this scenery fit right in. ![]()
I’m waving at the spirit bear!
Good luck! I kinda hope you see something!
Oh wow! The Scottish thistle in the wild! So pretty! I love your pictures!
Super Saturday Greenbriar,
Lovely again, so beautiful. Have fun looking for Nessie! Thank-you for letting us come along for the ride!![]()

Today was a strange day, weather-wise. Our bus driver described it as “dreich” which is how Scots refer to weather that is cooler, with drizzle or light rain. It was doing that on and off most of the day. Most of my pics from the boat trip on Loch Ness were of the screen they had displaying the boat’s position and the depth of weather underneath us. The cabin windows were covered in raindrops. No sighting of Nessie either, but we enjoyed the ride and the stories and information provided on board.
After Loch Ness we stopped at Robertson’s Farm Shop in Beauly, where we saw some “Heilen Coos” and Alpacas, and did a bit of shopping.
Our next stop was Beauly Priory
After lunch we stopped at the Culloden Battlefield, where I walked/stood entirely too long without my rollator
And finally, we stopped at Clava Cairns where there were 4,000 yr old burial Cairns and standing stones aligned with the Winter Solstice
All in all a great, but tiring day and my knees are killing me.
Eric has done some checking on the Witch Museum and we’re not sure if it’s going to be doable. It’s located halfway down one of the many “closes” in Edinburgh, which are narrow stairways leading between the buildings. I won’t be able to use my rollator to get there because of the stairs, and I sort of need it because it’s a fair way from our hotel. We’ll see how it goes
Of course you didn’t see Nessie! She’s old and probably has arthritis. Rain probably gives her a pain in her neck or something.
Those cows are amazing! They kinda look like one of the Beatles back when they all needed haircuts!
Seriously though, thank you for sharing the wonderful pictures! It’s amazing to see!
Making me chuckle again!![]()
Humor is @Amethyst’s Superpower. I think it always has been! ![]()
Looks like you captured a few good photos despite the icky weather! Such a beautiful area, even a “dreich” day (love this word!) can’t hurt it.
You’re a champ for doing all the walking today! So sorry your knees are complaining. Hopefully some rest and maybe some anti inflammatory meds will do the trick.
The standing stones have me in awe.

It doesn’t sound good for the Witch Museum. Fingers crossed. Sounds like you have to walk up to it - not take an Uber.
Glad it was such a fun day!
My work here is done! ![]()
Shh! I’m in my secret identity!
It was raining here too but much needed rain as Cairngorms as you will probably be aware is suffering with a large wildfire.. I am glad you both enjoyed looking for Nessie and the information and photographs you posted of whereabouts you were on the boat trip.
The other parts of your trip and the information you provided was lovely to read. I am not surprised your knees and no doubt Eric’s are very sore there was a lot to see standing for long periods.
I have had a look at the Witches Museum online. The cost of the ticket is £7.50 each for a self guided tour. I would say that they do a lot of private Tarot Readings (which is an extra cost) and a private tour but that is on Saturday and Sunday(which you have to book and again extra money) a tea ritual on a Thursday again extra and book.
I would say the only thing interest is a Voodoo Box that to a Witch Doctor who lived in New Orleans. There is just some information what was in the Box. I can screenshot it so everyone can read it you can just make it out.
I don’t think it is worth the money and you struggling and getting a scarf from you Clan I would say money better spent.
I don’t want to spoil it if you want to go so let me know.
Blessings ![]()

Here are a few selected photos from the final day of our Western Highlands tour. Stops included the Highlands Folk Museum, a tour of the Blair Athol Whiskey distillery (complete with whiskey tasting) and a photo stop at the Forth Bridges.
Oh wow! All those tartans! And the whisky sleeping! And I love the bridge! Thanks again for sharing all your pics! I’ve been loving them!
