Hurricane Drink Recipe

Servings: 1 serving
Prep time: 5 minutes

Ingredients:

3 ounces orange juice
3 ounces pineapple juice
3 ounces cranberry juice
1 Tbsp lime juice
1 Tbsp grenadine
1 orange, sliced into wheels
Maraschino cherries

Directions:

Add a few ice cubes to a cocktail shaker.

Add the orange juice, pineapple juice, cranberry juice, lime juice, and grenadine to the cocktail shaker as well. Cover and shake for about 20 seconds.

Strain the mix into a tall hurricane glass, then add fresh ice.

Garnish with an orange slice and a cherry. Enjoy!

Notes:

You can double this recipe, and it will still fit in a large cocktail shaker. Any larger and we recommend mixing the ingredients in a pitcher, then adding ice to the pitcher and serving it like a punch.

Replace the grenadine with maraschino cherry juice. It will have a slightly different taste but still be fruity and delicious!

The original hurricane cocktail is made with dark and light rum, which, of course, we skip. We don’t need alcohol ruining our delicious drink! The hurricane is far better without the alcohol; that is a fact!

Homemade Birthday Cake Creamer

Prep Time: 2 minutes
Cook Time: 3 minutes
Total Time: 5 minutes
Servings: 10

Ingredients:

1 œ cups half & half
1 cup granulated sugar
œ cup heavy cream
2 teaspoon Cake Batter Extract

Directions:

Add the half & half, sugar, and heavy cream to a medium saucepan and heat over low, stirring until the sugar is completely dissolved.

Remove from the heat and stir in the cake batter extract. Stir until well combined.

Allow to cool at room temperature for 15 minutes, then transfer to a mason jar or other airtight container and store in the fridge for up to 2 weeks!

Notes:

This makes about 2.5 cups of creamer!

Optional Variations & Dietary Adjustments:

Dairy-Free/Vegan - Use your preferred plant-based half & half and cream substitutes (or use full-fat oat milk and full-fat canned coconut milk, well-shaken), organic sugar or cane sugar, and make sure that your birthday cake flavoring extract is vegan-friendly.

Sugar-Free - Swap in your favorite cup-for-cup sugar-free sweetener (e.g. monkfruit) for a low-carb, diabetic-friendly creamer.

Chocolate Cake - Not a funfetti fan? Add a tablespoon or two of unsweetened cocoa powder to the pan with the sugar, whisk to incorporate, then add the cream and half & half and proceed as instructed for a chocolatey twist.

Recipe Success Tips:

Don’t skip the simmer. Gently heating the mixture helps the sugar dissolve completely and allows the flavors to meld. Just don’t let it boil, or the dairy may curdle.

Use high-quality extract. Not all cake batter extracts are created equal. Look for one with natural flavors if possible—some artificial versions can taste overly sweet or chemical-like.

Adjust sweetness to taste. This recipe is designed to be moderately sweet, but if you prefer more or less sugar, it’s easy to tweak. Start with less and taste before adding more.

Make it froth-friendly. If you plan to froth it, avoid low-fat milk substitutes and go for full-fat dairy or creamy plant milks like barista-style oat or coconut milk.

Store smartly. Homemade birthday cake creamer will last in the fridge for up to 2 weeks if kept in an airtight container. Consider investing in a pour-friendly jar (or mason jar attachment) to ensure easy, mess-free usage.

Don’t freeze it. The high dairy content won’t do well under extreme cold—it has a tendency to separate and become grainy after defrosting. Instead, mix with cold brew first (in whatever dilution you prefer), then freeze into ice pops for a frosty treat.

FAQs:

Is Chobani birthday cake creamer a limited edition?

Yep—as of time of publication (July 2025), Chobani’s confetti birthday cake creamer is only a limited edition, so if you see it, stock up while you can. Or, don’t worry about it—now you know the secret to making your own at home!

What’s the difference between vanilla and birthday cake?

Vanilla and birthday cake flavors may seem similar, but they’re actually quite different. Vanilla is a classic—warm, aromatic, and slightly floral. Birthday cake flavor, on the other hand, builds on that vanilla base but adds extra elements to mimic the taste of cake batter or boxed cake mix. It’s sweeter, richer, and often includes buttery and sugary notes, sometimes with a hint of almond or frosting-like flavor.

What does birthday cake coffee taste like?

Like a slice of funfetti served with a creamy coffee!

Homemade Birthday Cake Coffee Creamer Nutrition:

Each generous ÂŒ cup (4 tablespoon) serving provides about 167 calories, with 8 grams of fat and 22 grams of sugar. While it’s definitely a treat, it fits into a balanced diet when used mindfully—especially if you’re only adding a tablespoon or two to your coffee at a time.

Most of the calories come from cream and sugar, which contribute to its rich texture and cake-like sweetness. Nutritionally, it’s low in sodium and protein, and it doesn’t contain any artificial preservatives or dyes if you’re using high-quality extract and pantry ingredients.

For those watching their sugar intake, you could easily adapt the recipe using a sugar-free sweetener to cut back on carbohydrates without losing flavor. All in all, if you’re looking to enjoy the nostalgic taste of birthday cake without eating an actual slice, this creamer is a playful way to satisfy that craving! Enjoy every sweet, celebratory sip.

Honey Latte

Prep Time: 7 minutes
Total Time: 7 minutes
Servings: 1 serving

Ingredients:

3 ounces espresso or strong concentrated coffee (generous ⅓ cup )
6-9 ounces milk, cows or oat milk preferred (Ÿ-generous 1 cup )
1 Tablespoon Honey Syrup
Teeny pinch sea salt
Sprinkle of cinnamon (optional)

Directions:

Heat 1 cup of milk on the stove top until steaming. Do not boil. Alternatively, place the milk in a jar in the microwave and microwave for about 1 minute, or until steaming.

Stir in honey and salt. Use a milk frother to froth the milk until foamy, if desired.

Add two shots of espresso or 3-4 ounces of very strong brewed coffee into a mug. Pour the milk mixture over the top.

Sprinkle with cinnamon and enjoy!

Notes:

Adjust sweetness and milk levels to make your drink as sweet and strong as you like! If you don’t have honey syrup, lower the sweetener to about 2 teaspoons of honey.

Oat milk can be used to make a dairy-free honey latte.

Alternatives and Adjustments:

Make a dairy-free honey latte by substituting oat milk for cow’s milk. Oat milk makes a really creamy latte. Just be aware that you may need to adjust the sweetener if you’re using sweetened oat milk.

If you don’t want to bother with the honey syrup, lower the sweetener to 1-2 teaspoons of straight honey.

Make a Honey Cappuccino by combining 3 ounces of espresso, 3 ounces of steamed milk, and 3 ounces of milk foam.

Use less milk for a stronger latte with a more concentrated coffee flavor.

Berry Purple Power Smoothie

Prep Time: 10 minutes
Cook Time: 0 minutes
Total Time: 10 minutes
Yield: serves 2

Ingredients:

1/2 cup fresh or frozen raspberries
1/2 cup fresh or frozen blueberries
6 large strawberries (fresh preferred; frozen is OK)
1/2 cup coconut water* (or milk)
1/2 cup vanilla Greek yogurt*
optional: 1 Tablespoon honey, or to taste

Directions:

Make sure you have a strong, powerful blender that will blend up the frozen berries. Add all of the ingredients to the blender in the order listed. Blend on high for at least 3 minutes or until smooth.

Scrape down the sides of the blender as needed. Add more coconut water if it’s too thick. Taste; then add 1 Tablespoon of honey (or a little more as needed) if the smoothie is too tart. I usually add 1 Tablespoon.

Serve and enjoy. Store any leftover smoothie covered in the refrigerator for up to 8-10 hours.

Notes:

For Thick Smoothies: If using ALL fresh fruit (instead of frozen), I suggest adding a handful of ice to keep the smoothie nice and thick. Frozen raspberries and blueberries are preferred because they lend a lovely, thick texture that isn’t icy.

Coconut Water: If you don’t want to use coconut water or don’t have any, use milk (dairy or nondairy) instead. Coconut milk is tasty here as well.

Yogurt: I prefer nonfat vanilla Greek yogurt, but low-fat or full-fat are fine too. Use any flavor you like best with these berries, or you can use plain.

Lavender London Fog Tea Latte

Prep: 2 minutes
Cook: 5 minutes
Total Time: 7 minutes
Servings: 2 servings

Ingredients:

3 cups water
2 bags Earl Grey tea (2 tsp) loose tea
2 tablespoons dried culinary lavender plus more for garnish
2 tablespoons honey or sweetener of choice (like sugar)
1 cup milk (dairy or non-dairy) or half-n-half or cream)

Directions:

Bring water to a boil in a saucepan or tea kettle. Add Earl Grey tea, dried lavender, and honey. Stir and let steep for 4-5 minutes. A longer steeping time will elevate the lavender flavors.

Strain the tea and fill two latte mugs Ÿ full.

Gently heat the milk over medium heat until warm. Froth with a whisk or milk frother.

Spoon foam over the latte and add a pinch of dried lavender to garnish.

Notes:

Honey: I enjoy the flavor of honey in this latte, but you could also substitute your favored sweetener, like granulated sugar, if you prefer. Sweetness helps bring the floral lavender flavor forward. I highly recommend adding it!

Milk: Whole milk, half-and-half, cream, or your favorite milk works here. A higher fat content in the milk makes it easier to froth. In fact, if you’re using half and half, you can froth with a whisk (although I still use my Handheld Milk Frother because it’s SO quick!).

Spring Iced Tea

Prep Time 10 minutes
Servings: 2

Ingredients:

1 tbsp Tea leaves
1 cup Hot water
1 cup Cold water
10 Ice cubes
10 Mint leaves
5 Lemon slices
5 Green apple slices
2 tsp Maple syrup
1/2 tsp Vanilla

Directions:

Add the tea leaves to a large jug. Pour over the hot water, cover, and let it brew as per the packet instructions. The longer you brew it, the stronger the tea – obviously.

Remove the cover and pour in the cold water. Add the rest of your ingredients and stir. Give it a taste and adjust if needed.

Pour through a strainer into a glass. Serve with a few slices of apples on a skewer.

Notes:

If you want the tea stronger, let it brew longer. You can even add more tea leaves if needed.

You can use pear, plum, or apricots in place of apples.

Strawberry-Carrot Smoothies

Ingredients:

2 cups reduced-fat plain Greek yogurt
1 cup carrot juice
1 cup orange juice
1 cup frozen pineapple chunks
1 cup frozen unsweetened sliced strawberries

Directions:

Place all ingredients in a blender; cover and process until smooth.

Notes:

Strawberry-Carrot Smoothie Tips:

Can you taste carrots in smoothies?

You can taste the carrots, but they’re high in natural sugars and make a delightful complement to other sweet ingredients, like strawberries. Still hungry? Here’s how to glaze carrots in A Sweet Side Dish for dinner.

Can you blend raw carrots?

While this recipe uses carrot juice to simplify the process, you can blend raw carrots for smoothies or juice. Make it easier for your blender by slicing your carrots before blending. (Just make sure to protect your fingers if you’re Slicing With A Mandoline).

Do you peel carrots for smoothies?

It’s up to you! As long as your carrots are washed, you can peel or not peel according to your preference (and how much time you have on your hands). Try out some of Our Favorite Kitchen Gadgets—peeler included.
