Rune Sticks

There are many ways to use runes, but one method is the rune sticks.

These sticks are not used for divination but to conduct energy. So how do they work?

1 Take one large stick, or a few smaller ones, or a circle of wood and engrave, carve, burn or marker up the wood with the runes.

2 Consecrate the sticks to your god/goddess or to Odin in your usual method (if you want to follow my consecration method I’ve put it below.)

3 Now your sticks are ready to use. Whatever energy you require, take that stick with the rune on it - put your finger on that rune and meditate on its energy.
If it’s a bind rune, you can place the rune from one stick and tap it onto the rune on the other stick - and if your bind runes are all on the same stick, you place your finger on each rune, in the order of how you want the energy to run.

4 Finally, what if you want to send energy out to a friend? Get any stick/twig and tap it onto the rune/s you wish to send to someone 9 times, calling in the god associated with that rune and ask them to carry that energy to that person. :green_heart:

Remember to thank the runes, and any deity. That’s it!

Consecrate Runes

Take your rune sticks.
Put them in a bag and bury them in the earth.
Leave them for 9 days.
Dig them up and offer a prayer to Odin to bless these runes.
Hold the sticks to your heart and feel the runes energy enter your body.
They are now yours.

Bless :beers:

Remember, the runes are at their most powerful when made from natural material by you, putting your personal touch on them. No need to be elaborate or perfect, it’s all about energy. So have fun, experiment, make them yours and don’t worry if you stir up a storm - it’s just Thor saying hi!:partying_face:

I love your rune sticks and your rune wheel (rune donut? :doughnut: :yum: ) too! This is a lovely craft and way to channel the energy of the runes. Thanks for sharing! :hugs:

Very interesting. I have ‘tagged’ my wand with a few specific runes, all Elder Futhark except one private one. I did it early on and, after a short time, I started feeling comfortable and happy with it. In some ways, my wand is also a rune stick. I have added your approach to my ‘todo’ list and will explore this more.

Since I wanted the runes to be somewhat impervious to handling (it was my wand!), I carved a flat section on the wand then I drew the runes with pencil, then lightly etched them with a sharp Xacto blade. Next, I retraced the runes with a fine tip permanent marker and, finally, covered it with a buffed coating of beeswax. It seems to work fine.

That sounds great, and personalised to you. Exactly what the runes love, may your relationship grow with them. I have found they almost take on an individual entity kind of feel and personality the more you use them, it’s nice but weird.

I agree. I don’t use them a lot but I end up liking them more each time I see them. They are ‘mine’…my precious…
