56th Spells8 Book Club - Readersā Reviews!
Well, I will never read that book. I feel so bad you suffered so! I hope your next book read is brilliant and a 10/10!
Thanks! You can see what I mean. The whole book was pretty much like the book quote up there. If the myths were talked about or rewritten, it would be interesting. But this? Bah.
Thatās how I felt when reading Braiding Sweetgrass
I think even in the first chapter, I was in tears!
Iām sorry the book wasnāt what you were expecting
I can say from personal experience that researching any Celtic lore or stories is going to be just like the book. There are very few written stories from that time period, and what is written was transcribed by Christian monks. Celtic lore is an oral tradition, so most stories are passed down via word of mouth.
I hope you can find a book that better suits what youāre looking for!
Yeah, but they could have made it more than a paragraph, or talked about how that legend helped them now, or something. This book was just short paragraphs. Sigh.
But my Imbolc book is much better! Iām loving it!
Wee!
Hooray for small wins! ![]()
Yeppers! Itās the little things that get you through the day sometimes.

I have failed miserably at reading this month. I will give a review of what I have read next week but I think I may change books again. Itās so hard to find something that will catch my interest and keep these days. I had such better focus when I was young. I could devour 10 books in one day easily. I hate getting older lol!
Do you have Kindle Unlimited? For like ten bucks a month you can read just about anything. A lot of pagan books are on there. You canāt keep more than 10 book on your Unlimited account, but most people donāt collect books like I do.
But that way, you can read and try things out!
Good luck finding a treasure!
Oh yes! I used to have Kindle Unlimited for quite a long time, but I had to cancel it because I canāt afford the monthly subscription anymore.
I get that. I just wanted to make sure you knew about it. You can share books with someone on Kindle if you ever want to borrow one of mine. Itās only for two weeks though. Just saying.
Youāre in good company then, because so did I
I did find that the book Iām reading has an audiobook, so Iāve requested a copy of that in Libby to borrow when itās available. That will make it so much easier for me!
Iām glad Iām not alone! It wasnāt the bookās fault, it was mine. What Iāve read so far is great and she has a very magickal way of writing. And I saw she has some rituals and what not that look very interesting. Iāll return to it at another time. The book isnāt going anywhere lol. For next session, Iām taking on an ambitious project. Iām going to read āWomen Who Run with the Wolvesā by Pinkola Estes, Ph.D. I vow to get through it no matter how many months it takes me!
Today marks the end of this reading period!
A discussion is open for everyone to share their reviews ā
