Saw this on my door it may be nothing just wondering if anyone saw this before
Hi, @lashawna! I’m Amethyst. Welcome to the forum!
It looks like it might be a bind rune—a badly drawn one. However, I have no idea what it might be, because it appears to be using one real one and the other made-up ones. Not sure, really. I mean, I see Tiwaz, but that’s about it.
@tracyS would know, she’s one of our rune experts. Sorry, I couldn’t help you more. Good luck figuring this out!
I have no idea what that could be or mean. I wish I could help. But more importantly, welcome and merry meet to the forum @lashawna

Hmm… it’s interesting, for sure! It almost looks like someone was trying to draw an arrow, but didn’t quite do a good job.
I’d jump to mundane conclusions before magickal ones – are there kids in the area who might do this? That’s the first thing that comes to my mind.
Other than that, it isn’t any symbol that I recognize.
It isn’t anything I recognize. Are you in a house or an apartment? One thing that came to mind was that possibly the apartment management had marked the door for repainting, or something like that.
I see elements of Cherokee: di, mi, go; Japanese: ku, be; Lambert A, N or U (AU us the alchemical symbol for gold); Disney’s Atlantean letter B55; and possibly a variant of an old hobo symbol of “follow the arrow to a safe place to stay.” Do any of these resonate in any way?
At any rate, welcome @lashawna! Good luck deciphering your mystery.
Welcome, @lashawna and Merry Meet!
I agree it looks like a scratched out rune, not really definitive - but who knows? It sure looks like something that was intentional.
A bit of a mystery! Are you in an apartment building? I agree it could simply be kids.
Anyway, we’re glad you’re here - hope to see more of you!
@lashawna Hello lovely, I’m Tracy. Thankyou @Amethyst though I’m still learning . You can see rune outlines in it, I can see
and maybe an attempt to make
, it could also be a reverse
which is a negative rune.
Firstly reversed runes are not accepted by most rune energy workers as having any power as that’s not how they were used in the sagas so if someone drew a reversed
on your door they’re an idiot and don’t know what they’re doing, so don’t worry.
Reversed runes are used in divination readings and even then alot of rune readers don’t bother with them. So looking at this image I feel it’s lacks any power. ![]()
Second, if it’s an attempt at a bind rune, it’s messy, and bind runes are pretty precise and anyone making one would normally make an effort to mark it perfectly otherwise the rune won’t work, much like sigils, you wouldn’t do a hash job on it. So as it’s a bit of a messy attempt I’d go with the mundane.
If you’re worried it’s a bind rune you can simply cancel it out. Intention is everything. Draw with water the rune
on your right wrist. (That protects your environment around you as you work on this mark)
Now draw with water the rune
over the mark/bind rune. This is water energy and will neutralise and calm anything negative in the mark. As it’s a first quarter moon phase this rune is extra powerful. ![]()
Then simply remove it and redo your door if you’re allowed.
Take care lovely ![]()

Oh and it’s good to note with runes, very few rune energy workers use runes in curses or hexes, runes get very upset being used this way and have a nasty habit of kicking the rune worker up the arse for the insult
so I think you’re gonna be ok lovely. ![]()

Merry Meet Lashawna,
Welcome to our space; glad to have you!!
I am with Megan; I initially thought it was kids from the neighborhood. I cannot add any other insight, I have not worked with runes/sigils/oghams yet.
I hope someone will be able to answer your question. Merry Yule, Lady Gene

Hello @lashawna,
You’ve got some great suggestions for ways to interpret the symbol if it was left/appeared intentionally. My only other thought is that is kind of reminds me of the chalk messages left on doors in Poland around this time of year. The village priest would come around and mark doors (and visit for tea and goodies) in my partner’s village.
Here’s a bit more about the practice:
Chalking the door is a Christian Epiphanytide tradition used to bless one’s home.[1] It is normatively in the pattern of four crosses positioned in between the traditional initials of the three wise men, which are surrounded by the first two and last two digits of the current year (e.g. 20
C
M
B
25).[2] The practice of chalking the door originated in medieval Europe, though it has spread throughout worldwide Christendom. ~ Wikipedia: Chalking the Door
Not sure if it could be related, but just another thought on the table for you!
Also wanted to say welcome to the forum. I hope you make yourself at home here ![]()
Blessed be and happy new year!
Thank you for this!!!
You’re welcome - hope you can solve the mystery!
Blessed be ![]()
