Using Tarot for Yes/No Questions PART II - Tarot Spreads for a Yes/No Answer

Boy, it was hard not to try to influence the outcome, but I didn’t, and the cards were right in this case! A good night’s sleep was had by all. :cat:

Now to think of any other question because thorough testing is required

Hopefully so! I think part of the issue is I still have an Oregon phone number :joy: – the area code is different, so people here are reluctant to answer the calls. I don’t blame them because of all the spam calls and stuff, but it makes it hard to get in touch with people sometimes!

Three cheers for that!

I can empathize - I don’t pick up any unknown numbers, but most especially those from far away!

Maybe it’s worth switching your number to a local one? :mobile_phone: :sparkles:

I’ve been considering it, honestly  or at least getting a Google number in the local area code… because, as I suspected, I never got a call back from that electrician!

So, my reading was correct. So far, that’s 2 for 2! Now… let’s come up with another question!

I think we’re going kayaking today after my partner gets out of his appointment and our friend gets off work. They like to fish… so, my question is this:

Will my partner catch at least one fish today while kayaking?

Well, two uprights mean two yeses. So, now we wait and see what happens!

As a side note, I used the Traditional Manga Tarot (the original deck I started with) and then my Somnia Tarot. I don’t think I like using my Somnia tarot for this kind of thing, not because of the cards or the images, but because it’s hard to shuffle in a way that makes sure I have good distribution of upright and reversed cards. The cards are bigger than others, so I have a hard time shuffling them like… poker style? If that makes sense? I’ll save that deck for different readings.

Most of the ones I come up with are in this category. I can ask a question that, at a glance, seems to be yes or no but if I put it to the cards - especially a spread, I get a reasonable reply that implies other things may be in play. I like that… it explains the situation better.

I hope the fishing trip went well and they had fun! :fish:

I have a couple decks like this too - the Ostara deck comes right to mind. It’s my “jumper” deck, aka it has a lot of cards that jump out while I shuffle them for exactly this reason

In a world as beautifully complex as ours, I think it’s logical for many factors to be at play in most situations. So I’m right there with you with the struggle - it’s hard to find questions that could give a straightforward and clear yes or no result!

So… about that… We didn’t end up going kayaking. He wasn’t feeling that great after his appointment, so we took a rain check. I can think of two ways to explain the reading. One is that, if we were to have gone, he would have caught a fish. Two is that the reading was just wrong in general  So, I’m calling this one a draw.

Time to think up another question!

That sounds fair! When the situation being read for doesn’t happen, it’s hard to make a call about the result. I guess it loops back to beliefs about fate - for those who believe in fate, a yes/no reading should yield the correct result every time, since they believe fate is finalized. But for the free willers who believe the future has a level of flexibility, a yes/no reading not being correct could simply mean that the future changed as it needed to, and the reading was for a path that wasn’t taken.

These experiments are giving me so much to mull over and I love it  :+1:

Looking forward to what you come up with!

Results are in and the answer to my question was: No. The specific player I asked about was not present at the table last night. I’m grateful - we had a fun group and it was a great game! It does, however, mean that my draw using the Three Aces spread as a yes was incorrect.

That puts me at 0/2 for correct yes/no answers - but I’m going to do at least one more with a different deck and different method. Gotta get some more data :bar_chart:

Yup, this is definitely where I fall. I think that if we had gone kayaking, he would have caught a fish. But since we didn’t end up going, the potential future changed, and the answer became irrelevant.

Me too! There is a lot to be learned from experimenting with the way you do things, and it can be applied to both magical and mundane practices in life! :sparkles: I find it’s helpful in figuring out how things work for me, as well as narrowing down what I believe and helping me analyze my own systems.

Interesting! I wonder if I just got lucky with my deck and it’s decided that it likes yes/no questions :joy: I hope you have good luck with a different deck and/or method!

I can’t think of another yes/no question just yet… I’ll have to give it some more thought!

Hmmmm, it’s so hard to think of a question I can’t affect nor have any prior knowledge of, so I’m doing something completely random for my question.

Will I see a cat on my group run tomorrow morning? :woman_shrugging: I don’t know, I’m reaching here

I’m using the Upright = Yes, Reverse = No

I’m using a new oracle deck.

,

That would be a **No**.

Well said! I agree there are a lot of far-reaching benefits to exploring (or re-exploring) new and old areas of the Craft

Thank you! I’m up for trying again - just need to work out a question haha.

Beautiful deck! Please keep us posted on the results (and hope you had a fun run!)

Oh thanks for the reminder! I hadn’t looked at the route ahead of time and at one point we ran near the Crooked Tail Cat Cafe. I always look to see if there are kitties in the windows. There weren’t any this time  and I didn’t see any on the rest of the route. No was correct :100:

I’m practically furry with envy that you have a cat cafe nearby - that’s so cool! :grinning_cat:  And thank you for sharing the results. Sounds like it was spot on! :+1:
