I found a new way to explain Santa. https://www.tiktok.com/t/ZT8au6eFS/
I love that!!!
I so love that! Santa’s spirit will live on!
I’ve seen it explained similarly! When we say “Santa”, we are talking about the Spirit of the season. When children are old enough, they can be given the opportunity to be Santa and become the Spirit of the season, if that makes sense. There’s a better way of explaining it but I’m struggling to remember it
I was actually 5 when I realized my family was lying to me. It hurt my feelings that I couldn’t say thank you to an individual. What mattered, even at the age of 4, was that my mother and I woke up that morning. Of course, I grew out of that pretty quickly after realizing the extent of the lies in my family.
Still, I liked the hard plastic statue of Goofy, dressed in a Santa outfit we got at Disney (Florida) when I was 3, soon after Dad died . We would put him up atop the chiming wall clock every year until his clothes rotted. I still wish we could have kept the plastic doll and made new clothes for it. I replaced him with a stuffed musical Woodstock a couple years ago.
Has anyone seen or read Terry Pritchert’s Hogfather? The Santa myth is reformatted as a solstice ritual. Caution to those with triggers, though. Death himself delivers presents to keep kids believing until his granddaughter can rescue the sacrificial boar.
I like the movie about Jack Frost where North (Santa) shows Jack a matrioshka doll which shows the differing layers of personality to the very core. I seem to have lost that movie, and I liked it so much!
Santa is a positive thoughtform to conjure regularly in trying or stressful times. Not sure he could help everyone, due to the veil of personal experiences, but it’s worth a try- to rescue one’s own Santa image from commercialism or family expectations.
@georgia that’s so sweet! Goofy in a Santa costume I’d like to read that book. I’ll have to see if I can find it!
