I love your entry and ideas
My favorite ways to use cards in my spells is as representations of different concepts, symbols, or ideas, or for the energy of the card itself. Here are some ways I might use a card or combine cards for different purposes.
- The Fool - a spell for new beginnings
- The Ace of Wands - a spell for inspiring creativity
- Temperance – a spell to bring balance
- Temperance & The Two of Pentacles – a spell for creating balance and stability in an unstable career or in work/life balance
- Death – a spell to release things that aren’t working and open doors for new opportunities
- The Devil – a spell to trap someone in their own behavior and addiction
- The Ten of Swords – a spell to cut ties with someone who hurt and betrayed me, to bring a final end to the pain
Ohh! Now I have the idea to shuffle my cards and pull two or three, then create a spell inspired by the cards and how I would use them in the spell I might have to put that together today!
Thanks!
It worked out well!

CHALLENGE ENTRY
Using tarot cards is very much part of my family practice. Even when other things need to take a back foot, my daily tarot card is the one thing that I ensure I do. I have been using them now for around 3 years and certainly feel that my confidence and intuition have developed over this time. I started with the Rider Waite. You can see on the picture that I have drawn little symbols. These are the astrological correspondences which helped me to interpret the cards more easily.
I also had a magazine subscription called Total Tarot. It got posted every fortnight and would contain half of a new deck so each month you would get a complete new deck. The magazines explained the deck, gave examples of spreads and advice on interpreting the cards. It also gave you some fab freebies…I got a crystal set, a crystal ball and the wee card pouch in the picture above from them.
I now use the Egyptian Art Noveau deck as the Egyptian symbolism is familiar to me and therefore helps me in my interpretations as well.
Each day, I draw a single card. Sometimes I do it in the morning but often I do it at night for the following day due to a busy morning schedule. I record it in a simple notebook just with notes about possible guidance.
At night, I use the card as a reflection tool in my journal, assessing how it impacted my day and possible next steps.
This is one thing that brings me clarity but also a sense of calm and focus each day.
I also draw an Egyptian oracle card from one’s that I made myself, some of which are shown below.
I do this on a Sunday and they act as my guide for the week. I look at how to connect with them and what guidance they may put in front of me for the week ahead. This then gets recorded in my journal and I reflect on the week on a Sunday.
Blessed be
Alan
Well the timing for this challenge had perfect timing for me! I bought a deck when I was away last week! I’ve started following the Whole Tarot course and have cleansed and charged my deck and started the daily readings. I really felt the pull of this one so am enjoying learning about it all again.

It helps me to understand what i need to be focusing on for the day.
