Challenge Entry: #6 Moon Magick

I decided to do a freezer spell to stop/banish the gossip going on in my in-laws side of the family, I’m trying to keep the peace among everyone and one of the best spells to do during the waning moon phase that’s happening right now is banishing spells. I also made some moon/rain water. I never really worked with the moon before but now I see all the possibilities you can do with each phase and I’m very intrigued! This challenge was so fun!!

Today i had a 'a year ago today ’ cone up showing a photo had taken today a year ago of a candle set up i had in kitchen for Brigid .
Today i was going yo the zoo for a project for work and i was freaking out a bit cause i dobt ho out much these days exceot for work and i had ro not onlt do public trasport to new place, go through buying ticket silly maybe but direct interactions with ppl not just the crowds and being in unfamiliar place. So anxiety high, i decided the challenge i got light em up - candle magic would work well today. I needed strength to overcome the anxiety and cause been having flashbacks lately. So i lit my wood wick candle and put my clan music playlist on. Each song dedicated to member of clan. Then as each song came on i knellt before the tempory altar created just for this. Wasnt fancy but i connecyrd with each member of my clan. Oh after i did my version og the daily wiccan prayer ( i say lords and ladies as i have more than one god angoddess). Then i changed my keys, sunnies, crystal jewerlly nect tp the candle. I drew algriz rune on my body with moisturiser and my face with makeup. Though i got claustrophobic in nocturnal house n almost ended in tears after javing to try get out near end. My last long periods of lots of ppl being from wgen was in church ( hence why flashbacks were coming up as i knew it would be challenge to go to place not fakiliar n big lot of ppl etc. ). But i feel the protections and preparations i did really did help me to get to zoo, do what i needed and oit safely n not too bad anxiety, may of been talking to myself a bit at times out loud :joy:but im on my wayhome now n gpt what i need for kids storybook foijg for work. Ecen a few resources for teaching. Im now back in faily familiar territory n playing my pagan music ( damh the bard) as i finish of my journey home. Considering i didnt want to leave house esp as im working more thsn should be travelling more too. So im not getting as much recovery as i need with fibro plus recharge emotionally as i am an introvert and trauma has made anxiety in some situations far worse. But i did it and from timr to time as i got anxious in situation plus spent half of time freling lost in the zoo. Its big place n that map only partly helpex lol i joked aboyt getting lost in zoo, but in all seriousness i actually thinki actuallt was half thr timr i was there. There was too many ppl there to stop in one pla e too long but i felt clan nudge me now n then to remund me i wasnt alone. When i get home ill relight candle to say thankyou to can for help today
Now i just need to print photos off and creatr story book for kids for next tuesdau when supposed to read thrm book created lol next month adventure going to be a location not requiring so much planning n crowds. I want to be able to connect to nature n clan but when im in a setting or location thats triggering its hard to centre myself enough to stay in one place. Less urban i think more nature. But the kids requested me to do tge zoo as first adventure and didnt want to disappoint them. And though i had to physically go alone i was able to spiritually habe my clan with me which really helped. . And was so appreciated. Plus it was nice to be able to include this challenge in the process.

This is my Challenge Entry.
Weekly Challenge
My challenge this week is to do a tarot or oracle spread! You can use any spread you would like (or you can design your own!). It can be as simple as a 1-card daily draw or as complex as a full deck spread.
Since I have never done a tarot reading before, I decided to use the tarot card generator 2 to help me get started. The card that was generated was “The High Priestess”. The keywords associated with ‘The High Priestess’ are Intuition, Sacred Knowledge, Divine Feminine, and the Subconscious Mind.
I found this interesting because I was recently talking to a friend who was telling me about how he finds the subconscious mind very interesting. The conversation made me pause to think because I’m always trying to figure out how religions compare to each other. One thing that I’ve learned over the years is that all religions have their own words and beliefs regarding the concept of a soul. It is my belief that my concept of the soul corresponds to the Wiccan concept of Spirit and what Scientists call the subconscious.

The High Priestess challenges you to go deeper – to look beyond the obvious, surface situation to what is hidden and obscure. She also asks you to recall the vastness of your potential and to remember the unlimited possibilities you hold within yourself.
Then I remembered that a few years ago, when I was in a metaphysical store, I saw a set of beautiful tarot cards entitled “Your Path Through The Enchanted Forest”. (I was just drawn to them and had a need to purchase them). So, I decided to finally open the box and use them. I went through the deck looking for a tangible card that represents “The High Priestess” and found “The Wisewoman”. This card has a picture of a crone sitting under an apple tree. The traits of this card are wisdom, spirituality, and mysticism. Oracular advice, and seeing the unseen.

I had a need to go deeper into this subject so I located a tarot spread that appealed to me online. I wound up at www.thewitchescircle.community. The spread is a six-card spread in the pattern similar to the dots on a die that represents the number five with the sixth card parallel to the dot in the lower right position.

I decided to use “The Wisewoman” card as my first drawn card to remind me to focus on how my Spirit affects my perception of each individual card.

The second card I drew was the “Three of Visions”. This card has a picture of three bears dancing in the forest wearing blackberry bramble necklaces, in a field of wood violets. The traits of this card are playfulness, laughter, and gentle kindness.
My interpretation - Spirit is trying to remind me to take time to play, laugh and extend kindness wherever I am able.
One of my favorite pastimes is gifting. I don’t get the opportunity to do this much anymore, so a number of years ago, I became involved with a group that makes gifting a regular occurrence. It really brings me joy and I think Spirit wants me to reconnect with this group in order to bring more joy into my life.

The third card was The Seven of Boons. This card has a picture of a tree with seven very different doors. The traits of this card are patience, timeliness, waiting for obvious direction, and recognizing the best option.
My interpretation - Spirit is trying to remind me that ‘Patience is a virtue and good things come to those who wait.’
For the past seven years, I have been trying to manage my battle with cancer. It has left me disabled and pretty much alone. I have tried joining a variety of groups and volunteering at a few different places, but something always seems to go wrong. I think Spirit is trying to tell me that I will find something and someone to be with when the time is right. I just need to be patient and when the time is right, I will know it.

The fourth card was The Ace of Challenges. This card has a picture of a white raven offering a gift of a silver arrow. The traits of this card are intelligence, discernment, insight, focus, communication, and strategy. (A pure silver arrow shot straight into the heart, releases all evil from an adversary.)
My interpretation - Spirit wants to remind me that I am an intelligent person capable of discernment, the ability to strategize plans, and communicate.
I grew up in a very dysfunctional home; it was bad enough that it left me with a diagnosed case of PTSD. Due to my experiences growing up, I have a bad habit of being attracted to the ‘wrong’ people and worse, ‘wrong’ people have a tendency to find me and want to be a part of my life. I am finally in a mindset, where I am able to discern the ‘wrong’ people from the ‘right’ people, but because I am new to this, I need to remain vigilant when I am with new people and assess whether or not they are good for me.

The fifth card was The Six of Challenges. This card has a picture of a dwarf in a tree who just narrowly escaped a pack of wolves. The traits of this card are retreat, deliverance from a dangerous situation, waiting for danger to pass, and taking time to regroup.
My interpretation - Spirit wants to remind me that it is perfectly okay to retreat from dangerous situations until the danger has passed and I have had time to regroup.
During my bout with cancer and the resulting disability, I have met many doctors. Many of them just look at me on the surface and don’t understand the degree of my disabilities and my medical needs. They often don’t want to even take the time to understand. I recently chose to leave western medicine and replace it with homeopathy and eastern medicine. I think Spirit is telling me that this is okay. It’s okay to use alternative medicine.

The sixth card was The Seeker of Spells. This card has a picture of a maiden carrying a torch while walking through the forest. She is searching for a secret flower that only blooms on this particular night. The traits of this card are bold, spirited, dramatic, fearless, and passionate pursuit. Unlike the other cards, this card has a list of shadow traits; they are impulsive, would rather apologize than ask permission, easily bored, headstrong, and willful.
My interpretation - Spirit wants to remind me that the path to wisdom winds through both the past and the present, but to find what I am looking for I need to stay present. Whatever I need is not found in the distance but rather nearby on my path forward. Things to remember while on my journey are: only take what I need, let go of what no longer serves me, when you find your truth, become a Doer and always remember “The deeper you go, the higher you’ll get.”

Protection Spell Against Illnesses (and to promote good health)

You will need:

  • Red candle
  • Rosemary or Garlic Salt
  • A red apple
  1. Light a red candle on your altar.

  2. Form a circle of rosemary or garlic salt around the candle.

  3. Hold a red apple in your hand and sit for a moment in silence. Visualize a sphere of light as red as the apple surrounding you. This red light serves as a protective barrier, shielding you from illnesses, but also attracting healthy and healing energy.

  4. Say the following:
    Red and round,
    safe and sound,
    An apple today,
    illness at bay

  5. Take a bite out of the apple. Savor its taste. Feel it as it travels through your body, giving you the vitamins that you need to fend off illnesses.

  6. Perform this spell whenever you are not feeling well (if you have the energy) or when you feel the need to protect yourself from illnesses (along with other healthy habits such as getting enough sleep, eating plenty of fruits and vegetables, and physically cleaning your living space).

CHALLENGE ENTRY - Hedge Magic
Knowing nothing about Hedge Magic I began to research all the while being reminded of a book in one of my favorite fictional book series, the kind that you read and are pretty sure was written by someone with intimate knowledge of the craft, where the main character finds herself in a situation that using a type of magic that was a very gray area of magic for a white witch was her only option and what is described is almost identical to what I’ve read about Hedge Magic. I don’t remember the why or the ultimate outcome, only that it led to a terrifying journey and discoveries of the magic. Fiction yes, but I did start to wonder if it was a fairly accurate description.
Okay, back on track. I then read something written by the author of many books on Hedge Magic. It is a very thorough explanation of Hedge Magic which shed new light and I became increasingly interested and began to feel that this was the kind of magic that I was meant to practice. She went on to explain each of her books and I instantly wanted to read every single one. At the end there were charms and rituals for the Sabbats and that’s where she lost me.
The one for Samhain began with the use of an Elder wand or twig and I definitely agree with the premise of using it in the ritual and perhaps the only way to keep oneself safe.
However, I have very strong beliefs regarding the use of Elder. The best way to describe it is that in my opinion, the sacred basically life force trees in many books and movies are the fictional version of the Elder tree which is, in a sense, Goddess herself. I feel that one would certainly NEVER take from one and even if one were to come across a fallen branch, a wand made from it would contain power such that no earthly being is worthy of using or capable of using safely.
This in itself has not changed my mind about wanting to pursue Hedge Magic, nor am I saying anything negative about Hedge Witches. I plan to continue to research, just from a different source. For now, I will call the pit in my stomach when thinking of Hedge Magic a healthy respect.
This is one of the many reasons I love being here. Normally I have days where I have to describe the word I’m trying to say and some that I manage to spit out a few words of my thought and today, still recovering from a TBI I was able to put together a coherent thought that was almost properly written like I was able to do many years ago. That I think I inherited from my Grandmother, her writing was second only to her incredible ability playing the organ and piano. When she played, it was not individual notes but one beautiful stream that you could feel in your soul.
Interestingly enough, she had an American Elderberry bush in her yard.

Challenge Entry #2 - The Fortune Teller’s Game (Potions)
Since we have a possible snowstorm heading in overnight and I won’t be working in the morning, I’m going to try out potion #2.

“Dream a Little Dream”
Ingredients:

  • 1 cup of chamomile tea
  • 1/2 teaspoon of mugwort
  • 1/2 teaspoon of peppermint
  • 1/2 teaspoon of lavender
  • 1 tablespoon of honey
  • 1/2 teaspoon of vanilla extract

Instructions:

  1. Brew a cup of chamomile tea according to the instructions on the tea bag.
  2. In a tea infuser or strainer, combine the mugwort, peppermint, and lavender.
  3. Place the tea infuser or strainer in the cup of chamomile tea and let it steep for 10-15 minutes.
  4. Remove the tea infuser or strainer and add the honey and vanilla extract to the tea.
  5. Stir well to dissolve the honey and vanilla extract.
  6. Drink the potion while it’s still warm, about 30 minutes before bedtime.

This magical potion will help enhance your dream experiences, thanks to the natural dream-enhancing properties of mugwort. The calming effects of chamomile tea and peppermint will also help you relax and promote a night of restful sleep. The honey and vanilla extract will add a touch of sweetness and flavor to the potion. Enjoy!

Note: Mugwort is a potent herb and should be used with caution. It is not recommended for use during pregnancy or by individuals with certain medical conditions.

My Challenge entry is number 8 The fortune Teller’s Game the Hedge Magic mean while me knowing nothing about it Hedge Magic i did some research and also took the advice from some people in the group and i went to the introduction and i found this book
THE GREEN HEDGE WITCH goes into detail about the symbolic hedge between the Worlds and how we may start to work with nature spirits, principally trees. The technique of exchanging blessings with the trees and other land spirits is described fully. The main focus of the book is the healing of damaged places and species and the renewal of harmony between human beings and other life forms. (In my opinion, this is the most important work we can do and is a present day version of the hedge witch’s traditional role.) which is by Published by Robert Hale
June 2009
176 pages
so i began my day reading the book and it had some good information in it .

I hope I did this challenge correctly. with that being said I am going to finish reading the book and see more about what Hedge magic is all about and see what another research i find.

Thank you for your comments. I think I am good at this because I know myself pretty well. I don’t think I would get the same results if I was tried to do a reading for someone else.
