🕐 WITCH CHALLENGE ~ Catch-Up!

I am so pleased that I had a second chance to enter this challenge.

I coincided this challenge with Imbolc (in Australia). So I thought of an awesome fantastical menu for Imbolc for a romantic meal with my better half. Brigid’s Day traditionally is a day to celebrate the Celtic Goddess Brigid to ask her to protect the home, crops and livestock. Imbolc means “in the belly” in the old Irish Neolithic language referring to pregnant ewes. It is also known as Oimelc (Gaelic for ewes milk, since at that time ewes lactate and lambs are born).

As a result I have chosen the following menu:

  • Spiced Lamb Rack with Roasted Root Vegetables, Couscouc and Harissa Yoghurt
  • Bread and Butter raisin Pudding

Spring lambs, root vegetables, bread pudding are all symbolic of Imbolc. The magical properties of my ingredients are:

  • Rosemary - protection, cleansing, love & purification
  • Carrots - fertility & healing
  • Pepper - banishing negativity & protection
  • Garlic - healing, protection and banishing
  • Mint - luck, love & protection
  • Potato - fertility & abundance
  • Onion - protection & healing
  • Beetroot - beauty, love, rebirth & fertility
  • Lamb - innocence, purity & peace
  • Bread - grounding, offerings
  • Milk - nurturing, power & protection
  • Raisins - fertility, mental powers & money

Happy Imbolc
