Challenge Entry

This year, new beginnings is my theme! I am beyond ready to cast off the last few years and start over! My ā€œbigā€ new beginning for this year is committing to figuring out exactly who I want to be from this point on and actually being that person. I have spent my entire life being whoever people wanted and expected me to be, and it has become completely exhausting! So, I have realized that it is simply not worth the energy it takes to pretend to be something I am not, and that those who matter won’t mind, and those who mind, no longer matter.

In addition to this, I have undertaken what will likely be a lifelong project, but I am organizing all of my witchy knowledge from all of my paper and digital grimoires onto index cards and creating a sort of card catalog grimoire, so that I can always find what I need and only pull out the information I need at any given time. 5 index cards is so much easier than sifting through books and digital files!

Witch Challenge for Amethyst:

Hey all! I did more of an Imbolc spell than a New Year’s. The timing was good for this and I wanted to use that Full Moon.

Lately, I’ve been feeling like I’m stagnating. It’s not a bad feeling, not yet. But I need to do something new or learn something to improve myself. What I don’t know. So I’m leaving that up to my Patron Goddess.

I’m not really happy with the spell. I’m not sure if I’m overdoing it or something. And it doesn’t rhyme. But it’s what feels right, so I’m going with my gut. Hope you like it!

Spell for Positive Changes:

Intent: I want to encourage change and new beginnings.

Use these Crystals:

Blue Apatite bracelet: for focus, growth, motivation.

Lapis Lazuli: for Wisdom, Empowerment, and Spiritual Awakening.

Tiger’s Eye: for Protection, Confidence, and Motivation.

Black Tourmaline: for Protection, Grounding, and Emotional Balance.

Amethyst: For Mental Clarity, Balance, and Wisdom.

Rhodonite: For Insight, Intuition, and an Understanding of Myself.

Use these Herbs:

Basil: For Protection, Luck, and Courage.

Dandelion: For Wishes, Strength, and Tenacity.

Mugwort: For Protection, Intuition, and Inner Wisdom.

Sunflower Seeds: For Happiness, Abundance, and Energy.

Use a White Candle for New Beginnings.

I’m going to do this on Imbolc 2026, which is a Full Moon and a Sunday, but it’s also good for New Moons.

Gather a piece of paper and a green pen.

Dress the candle with the herbs and light it. Charge the crystals with the intention of positive changes coming into your life and new beginnings.

Charge Sunflower seeds for Happiness and new beginnings.

Place leftover herbs in a charm bag, along with crystals. Hold the charm bag and charge it with energy for positive change and new beginnings.

Say the following:

ā€œLady Brigid, Goddess of Inspiration, Goddess of Fire, I seek new beginnings and positive changes this moon. For my life is stagnant, and I so I draw the following runes:

Dagaz, for the start of a new day. Ingwaz, for gestating something new, Berkana, for Renewal, and lastly, Ehwaz, for movement.ā€

As you chant, write the rune on four sides of the paper, and then write your name three times, along with your date of birth.

If you want to taglock it to yourself even more, use a glucometer pen to stick your finger on it and put three drops of blood on it.

Then say:

ā€œI ask for your fire to transform me, to bring a positive change to my life, and something magical and new. I want to learn, to grow, to emerge from the Winter’s chill by learning something new. I place myself in your forge, so that you may shape me.

Thank you, Lady Brigid.

Blessed be.ā€

Place the paper, crystals, sunflower seeds, and any leftover herbs from dressing the candle into a charm bag and tie it.

Carry it for two weeks, until the New Moon. Then, take the bag apart, placing the crystals on your altar, and burning the herbs and paper while saying:

ā€œLady Brigid, I place myself in your fire so I may begin again like the phoenix, rising from the flames and starting anew. As I plant the seeds for new growth, bless me with your guidance.

So mote it be.ā€

After the rite, take the seeds outside and scatter them, and then try to learn or do something new!

Of course it is ok. If my purse is a mess, my car is a mess and my alter is a mess….look out I am out of control and need to regroup quickly. That is just me though.

This is such a wonderful family! Mote it Be

 I know that a lot of people absolutely hate index cards, but I was on the debate team in high school. I learned to organize my knowledge onto index cards so that I could rearrange facts as I needed to in order to better understand them. I like the idea of being able to pull a correspondence card and have a list of herbs, crystals, times, planets and moon phases that will help me. I can then pull cards for only those things to determine which things will best go together. It beats sifting through books and flipping back and forth between different pages. I can lay all of the cards out and see them all at the same time!
