How dose this book relate to my magical practice: as i work with hekate i like to learn all i can about her the book hekate along with explaining hekates diverse connections and areas she rules over along with ways to worship her, it also includes some rituals and spells.
My personal thoughts: I honestly enjoyed the book even tho its not as structured as other books but with a goddess as old of hekate whos orgins are not entirely known itâs completely understandable.
An intresting line from the book: as its more of an information book i dont actually have a line.
Would i recommend this book: I would 100 % recommend this book to those who with to learn about hekate.
Book title: kali by elizabeth u harding
Status: finished
My overall rating of the book: 4/10
How dose this book relate to my magical practice: as i work with kali in a way of worshiping her i like to learn all i can about her.
My personal thoughts: the book is good and brings you actually into its world its just a bit slow moving if you ask me.
An interesting line from the book: I didnât find a real interesting line.
Would i recommend this book: as it is a good stepping stone into understanding kali i would but id also say its not the easiest read out there. Its slow in its progress and i think as theres a lot of big words it should only be read by experienced readers not beginers.
The idea of Found Goddesses is really appealing to me too- I feel like it kind of ties into animism, or the belief that there are spirits in things all around us. There could be so many Goddesses out there, waiting to be found! Itâs a happy thought
From the quote you shared, the author sounds so motherly, like she genuinely loves the subject and cares for all those studying it. I think I may have to add this one to my to-read list!
This sounds like a perfect book for you, Amethyst- I hope you were able to find plenty of ideas for putting that gorgeous wand of yours to use!
Congrats on finishing two books this session, Iâm so glad they were both such great reads for you!
Iâm so glad to hear you enjoyed your book about Hekate, Nikita- it sounds like the book went pretty deep and had some very helpful info about Her for your practice
This one sounds like a very immersive read- sorry itâs a bit slow right now, but hopefully it will pick up as you get further into it May it continue to be an interesting and helpful book for your studies on Kali!
Thanks so much for sharing your thoughts on your two books, Nikita!

Hekate: Goddess of Witches By Courtney Weber Status? : Finished / Still Reading
Still Reading My overall rating of the book : ???/10
8 How does this book relate to my magickal practice?:
It relates very close to my practice as i am currently working with Hekate and want to be able to understand and connect to her better. My personal thoughts/opinions:
Very good book and shares personal experiences of the author who greatly loves Hekate An interesting quote from the book: " "
âJust as life and death have but a thin line between them, so too do love and hate, rage and elation, desire and repulsion; all are two sides of the same faceâ. All in all, would I recommend this book?: Yes / No
Yes, Yes, Yes!
Book Title and Author:Rebel Witch by Kelly-Ann Maddox
Status? : Finished
My overall rating of the book : 9/10
How does this book relate to my magickal practice?: It doesnât, really This is the book that was voted on for my Patreon book club so I read it for that. Iâd say the only thing it really has in common with my own practice is the eclecticism.
My personal thoughts/opinions: Overall, the book is solid. It takes a good approach to eclectic witchcraft in a way that makes sense and is culturally sensitive. It talks a lot about chaos magick which is one of Kelly-Annâs main focuses. One of the things I loved about this book is how it was written. If youâve never heard Kelly-Ann speak then you might not understand some of the words and things that she uses. She writes exactly how she speaks and I love it. One thing I didnât like from the book was the way the sabbats on the Wheel of the Year are explained. The Celtic Fire Festivals have cultural context and significance even to this day in those areas that these festivals come from. Rather than explaining the importance of a sabbat such as Imbolg, it is watered down to be about welcoming Spring and the fresh air (thatâs a paraphrase). I think explaining the cultural context of those sabbats in particular would have been very helpful.
An interesting quote from the book: âBut you can find your own way of doing it, dollface. Your craft, your rules â or lack thereof.â â This quote really whos how Kelly-Ann views her practice and the way she teaches in her book.
All in all, would I recommend this book?: Yes â I recommend this book for any new witch just starting out. Iâm not sure if anyone that has been around witchcraft for a while would get anything new from this book but itâs always worth a shot, you know?
I still havenât finished the other book, Empty Cauldrons
8/10 isnât bad at all- it sounds like it was pretty good read for you, Khadija! And ohhhh wow, that is a very powerful quote about the balance between things. It really put it all into a new, interesting perspective.
Thanks so much for sharing your thoughts on the book!
Youâve sold me, Amethyst- itâs been added to my (embarrassingly long) to-read list!
Wow, it sounds like the book overs a lot of ground- everything from chaos magick to the Sabbats! And haha that quote- does she refer to the reader as âdollfaceâ? It sounds like it is written in a very personal and unique way
Thanks for the note about who the book is best geared towards- Iâm starting to think that more intermediate/advanced books are tricky to find! And thanks so much for your review!
Yes! So sheâs got a very casual way of referring to people in general and thatâs just how she speaks. Dollface, cupcake, poptart, etc. are all little names that she uses for people instead of saying âhey guysâ or âyâallâ or something lol
Book Title and Author: Brigid: History, Mystery, and Magick of the /celtic Goddess by Courtney Weber
Status? : Finished / Still Reading : /still reading
My overall rating of the book : 5/10
How does this book relate to my magickal practice?: Learning if I can work with Goddess Brigid
My personal thoughts/opinions: I had a hard time with the history part and trying to keep interested in it.
An interesting quote from the book: " "Brigidâs energy is real. Brigidâs Magick works. Every spell I have worked through Brigid has come to manifestation.
All in all, would I recommend this book?: So far yes.
@TheMuslimWitch You know youâve got a good book when you have to get out the sticky notes/markers to mark quotes and passages!
@Amethyst Hahaha oh goodness I feel that- so many books! So little time to read them all!
@MeganB It sounds like she is pretty creative with the names- itâs certainly a fun personal touch to the writing style!
Sorry to hear that Brigid wasnât what you were hoping for, Debra- I know I feel the same when books spend more time going through history notes than focusing on spellwork and info for the here and now. I hope the book improves for you as you get deeper! Thanks so much for taking the time to share your thoughts about it- blessed reading!
Iâve been reading this book for awhile know, and itâs about time I give my own personal reflection five stars! Cyndi is a very knowledgeable about Hekate and her hidden mysteries and epithets! She has a school about Hekate and teaches modern psychology and uses witchcraft for healing and teaches at her school called Covina. She also can be found on utube.

How does this book relate to my magical practice?:
It is a great book for beginners looking for different ways to incorporate Chakra Healing their practice. There are meditation, essential oils, crystals, yoga, mantra⌠& itâs set up by each Chakra starting with the Root Chakra.
My personal thoughts/opinions:
I enjoy each section & their recommendations coincide with practices that I already use regularly.
An interesting quote from the book:
ââŚyou may also be able to heal multiple chakras with a single crystal. Selenite is a wonderful crystal â one that clears debris in the energy body & helps overcome stagnation, allowing yourself to communicate more clearly with your Higher Selfâ (Pg:159)
All in all, would I recommend this book?:
Yes, I would recommend it to someone interested in self-healing techniques for their energy centers.
Another 10/10- you are a roll with your reading, Siofra, and also on a roll of finding some great books! It sounds like you are really thriving with your chakra and energy work
And from the quote you shared, it sounds like this book ties in very well with your crystal studies too- how cool!
Thank you so much for sharing your thoughts about Chakras Healing!
Book Title and Author: Charms, Amulets, and Talismans by Marian Green
Status? : Finished (finally lol)
Not only did I not manage to get my hands on a new witchy book, it took me way longer than expected to get through the last few pages of this book from last session Not blaming the book though- just a busy schedule!
My overall rating of the book : 7/10
How does this book relate to my magickal practice?: Itâs a book offering an introduction and general coverage of many various aspects of magick. The sections of the book are as follows:
My personal thoughts/opinions: This book was in the gift shop at the British Museum and I couldnât resist getting it . I had very low expectations for the book as a gift shop purchase from a historical museum, but I was actually pleasantly surprised by how much passion the author used. And it turns out that Marian Green is not just a writer, but is an actual practicing witch and seems to have quite presence in witchy communities in the UK So big points there.
The book is good and covers a lot of ground. However, the author makes a comment about a âChinese cat amuletâ next to a picture of a Japanese Maneki-neko. Itâs a rather harmless (and common) mistake- but anytime I read something and catch an error like that Iâm unable to trust other things the author says
Would I recommend this book?: Yes⌠to those who want a basic intro to many various areas of magick all in one book. It is a good book for someone who knows nothing about magick (even if they donât want to practice it themselves but want to learn more).
Those more advanced in their path will find some interesting things, but arenât the target audience for this book.
Book Title and Author: Making Magic: Weaving Together the Everyday and the Extraordinary by Briana Saussy.
Status? : Finished
My overall rating of the book : 10/10!
How does this book relate to my magickal practice?: This book is all about getting back to the basics and relearning what you know about magic. Taking it down to the brass tacks.
My personal thoughts/opinions: This was a great book, not filled with spells but with the wisdom of nature and ritual. The magic of being yourself and the sacred breath, the magic that runs in your blood. It was very interesting! I loved it!
An interesting quote from the book: âMagic tells a different story: every curse holds itâs cure; every broken place carries within it a deep blessing, a hope. The deeper the wound, the bigger the benediction, and no broken place is too great, too terrible, to keep brave blessings away.â
