I accidentally landed on the path of witchcraft in my teens, and my mother (long deceased now) showed me ways on omens, focusing the mind and energy towards certain outcomes, reading people and situations, and more. I don’t know how/where she learned it, only that she taught me some of what she knew and how she helped people. Other than my mother’s training, everything I do, tools I work with, divination practices, etc., I am self-taught.
Years ago, I had read online and in most books that you choose your deities. I tried to do that, but it didn’t go well (no connection was made). However, through some odd circumstances, I was connected with The Morrigan – and then learned that there was very little good (balanced) information about Her available. So I developed my own relationship with Her – and have started to connect with Badba as well. It seems my Celtic ancestry won out.
Being without a mother for 26 years, through motherhood, much loss, and stubborn chronic illnesses, I have learned to do most things on my own, or find my own way. The Morrigan and (lately) Badb have been both comforting and a bit scary at the same time – but They have made me stronger for it. I also relate very strongly to plants and animals, and prefer them to people. I’m married, two mostly ‘grown’ children (who still need me often), two cats and one visiting, a dog and two rescued parakeets. All of our animals are rescues. I love herbal medicine, and choose both my food and my plants based on medicinal qualities. I say none of this out of pride or seeking attention, but to explain why I rarely think to ask for help with anything. Used to forging my own path, I guess.
Side note – I am a candidate for ordination with a Zen Buddhist community next year. Will see if it comes to pass, but it feels right.
I am not often so ‘open’ about myself, and I usually talk very little. But, the system said to “complete your profile” – so I’m giving it a try.
Thank you all for having me here – blessings and peace to all.
