A great spell for this time of year…when you are feeling chaotic and overwhelmed…it’s perfect for when your spirit just needs a deep breath and a hug from the earth.
What You’ll Need
- A small bowl of salt or dirt
- A candle (white, green, or brown)
- Something that smells like peace to you — lavender, cedar, chamomile, or even a favorite perfume
- Your two hands and your beautiful intention
The Ritual
-
Create a quiet space for yourself
Sit somewhere comfy. Let the world be the world for a moment. The dishes can wait! This space is yours now. -
Light your candle
As the flame steadies, imagine it holding the chaotic energy for you so you don’t have to. Whisper: “I call in calm. I call in clarity. I call myself home.” -
Hold the bowl of salt/dirt
Feel its weight. This is Earth in your palms — ancient, steady, unmoved by holiday chaos.
Take three slow breaths. With each inhale, imagine drawing up that grounded earth energy.
With each exhale, imagine releasing overwhelm like dust. You can even take it a step further and actually visualize “dust” floating away from you with each exhale.
- Sweep your aura
Dip your fingers into the salt/dirt. Gently brush your hands down your arms, over your chest, along your legs — sweeping away stress, tension, and overstimulation.
Say softly: “What is not mine, I release. What is too heavy, I let fall. I stand rooted. I stand whole.”
-
Bring in the scent
Let the aroma wash over you. Smell it slowly — three long breaths. Let your nervous system “catch” the signal that you’re safe. -
Ground fully
Place your hands flat on the floor or your thighs.
Close your eyes and visualize roots spiraling down from you like a willow tree settling deep into the earth.
Feel the steadiness. Feel your center stitching itself back together.
To Close
Extinguish the candle and whisper: “Peace in my breath. Peace in my body. Peace in my spirit.
So it is.”
Sit for one more minute. Let the softness linger.
