A Different Method for Reading Cards, Runes, etc

Helloooooo you fabulous humans  :waving_hand:

It’s been a while since I sprinkled a lil magick here, so popping in with something I hope will be useful to you!

I came across a new deck on Temu (can’t find it anywhere else) which is different to tarot, oracle and lenormand, very simple and extremely appealing to my logical brain! It’s called Kipper, and from my research I understand it’s a system created in Germany (did I mention I have German cousins ), which is less intuitive and more literal, with a reading taking the form of a sentence structure. In the deck of 60 cards, they are all divided into 1 of 6 roles; Subject (who is involved), Verb/Event (what is happening), Situation (area of life affected), Relationship (how are people relating), Undercurrent (what’s going on beneath the surface) and Outcome (where is this heading). Random selection for illustration, placed in 2 lines for the picture:-

Subject - Authority figure

Event - An Opportunity

Situation - Meeting

Relationship - Boundary

Undercurrent - Blind Spot

Outcome - Crossroads

So one way to read that is Jane will have an opportunity during a meeting which involves her boss, it will test her boundaries which are a blind spot (who doesn’t want to impress their boss), and it’s likely she will soon have to make an important choice about which path she wants to take moving forward. Or maybe, Jane has a chance meeting with her boss, completely innocent…or not… authority figures are her blind spot, they both overstep the boundary of employer and employee, and she has to decide whether to transfer departments, stay or leave the company, keep quiet or tell the truth. I wonder if he’s married too…

It just feels so deliciously simple, with plenty of room for intuiting and/or channeling into deeper meanings, and the formula itself could extend to tarot/oracle cards, runes, pretty much any form of divination I think; I’m going to try it with tarot myself. Have fun, sending love, hugs and sparkles to all who need them!

With Love & Light x

Makes sense. Germans are somehow the embodiment of everything rational, logical, and structured.

It looks very interesting! Are you happy with the quality? I´ve ordered a deck once and was so disappointed that I never dared buying another one.

Ohhhh a new divination method? Consider me intrigued!

I hadn’t heard of Kipper before. I’m jumping down the rabbit hole now~

Out of curiosity, do you know if Kipper has a standard amount of cards (like tarot) or vary by deck (like oracle)? I’m searching around for a deck and most of the ones I found have 36 cards. Maybe there are different versions?

The language nerd in me is very interested in this style of reading. How interesting!

Thank you so much for sharing about Kipper, @Nikki-Phoenix! I’m going to keep researching. It looks like World Divination has an introductory course for Kipper (it’s listed as a free course, but it looks like making an account is required to access it)

It’s always fun to hear about new types of divination - thanks again!

Odd. I’ve read that Artemisia, Phoenix Fire, and Wisteria Norn all mentioned the system, here.

It’s not new in the timeline of things (it’s been around since the 1890’s), but it’s not mainstream or as well known as Tarot/Oracle

It’s traditionally a 36-card system and is meant to be more of a literal type of divination (like Lenormand) than Tarot or Oracle. I’ve got a kipper set and use it sometimes! It’s a fun divination method. I’m out in the yard right now, but I’ve got a Lenormand & Kipper set from an artist that I love. It’s fun to have similar art in the two decks deck, yet each preserves its original format.

@Nikki-Phoenix Like the artwork on that deck! Very approachable and down to earth

More info before I head back out to the yard:
