A Ritual to Say Goodbye to an Old Faith

For the past couple of weeks I’ve been in conflict over past beliefs, it’s been an emotional tie which shadow work has not repaired. There are no words or even thoughts, just a feeling. :green_heart:

After many sessions with Loki, we have found a beautiful ritual which we have modified to suit my tastes, feel free to modify this version to suit yours. A little preparation is needed for this ritual, which is not my usual chaotic style, but in this ritual it’s necessary.

First, you need to make your own ash. You can do this by burning a pile of matches in a fire proof container, be mindful of fire safety as this will flame and smoke alot! Once the matches are burnt, crush them into ash using a mortar and pestle. You’ll need to make enough ash to draw with.
Next you’ll need to find a stick, something that calls to you about the size of a wand. It’s important you keep the natural energy in the stick so don’t cleanse it.
Then you’ll need to make a blood replacement solution as you’ll need enough to fill a small measuring jug. I used liquidized blueberries mixed with water, you can add a drop of your own blood if you want but this is optional.
Finally find a large water container and fill it with water unless you are able to do this ritual by a river.
Once you’ve prepared the above, you will be bringing with you:

A large black candle.
Matches.
An image of the rune Naudhiz.

Your jug/bottle of your blood solution.
Your stick.
A container with your ash.
Your large water container with water unless you’re using a river.

Thankyou and Goodbye Ritual

Go somewhere outside, just you, away from any people, switch your phone off. You can use your garden, a park, a cemetery, somewhere in nature, alone and quiet. This ritual is a sacrifice from you to you.

Light your candle and place it on the ground. Sit or stand, with your other items close around you.

Pick up your stick in your right hand and holding your left arm, outstretched, palm facing down to the earth, move the stick over your left arm, from elbow to fingertips then out into the air, lightly touching the stick on your skin as you do this. This is allowing the air to take away your past spiritual self. As you are moving the stick over your arm, say Thankyou to your previous faith, even the pain/shame it caused you. By doing this you are acknowledging these feelings as a part of you and a part of that faith, and then brushing all that off with the stick, containing nature’s healing energy, into the air for the air to carry it away forever. Keep doing this over and over until you feel light.

Now say goodbye in love, no anger, no shame or guilt, no resentment. You are simply moving forward. Put the stick down returning it to nature.

Open up your container of ash. Dip your finger from your right hand into the ash and draw the rune Naudhiz (above) onto your left arm. (You are using ash because it has been transformed from one form to another through fire, this symbolises you re-baptizing your spirit from one form to another). (The Rune symbolises your basic need to move forward now.)
As you draw the rune on your arm, say Thankyou and goodbye.

Now pick up your blood solution, this is an offering to you, not any gods. Pour this solution over your left arm/hand and the rune drawn on it, emptying all of the solution.

Using your water or the river (if using water, leave a small amount in the container for the last part of the ritual) now wash your arm/hand clean. You have now cut the bond and freed your spirit.

Using the remaining water (or river) put out your candle by pouring the water over the flame or dunking the candle into the river. Dispose of the candle however you feel, but do not re-use the candle.

Blessed be :sparkling_heart:

This is a very empowering ritual, allowing the castor to acknowledge and then let go of something that no longer serves them with only peace and love in their heart. It’s really beautifully designed, Tracy  :candle:

Thank you very much for sharing it with us!
