Thanks for these great printables. So far, I’ve been avoiding shadow work, but decided it’s probably time I got started with it. So I started with the “Am I ready for shadow work” spread.
I hope you can read this - it’s an image, where I combined a photo of my spread with the pdf file of the printable, and then added my interpretations in Photoshop. Elements and saved the whole thing as an image file. ( I can’t write at the moment because of a dislocated little finger from a fall on Friday – either that or the fall really aggravated my arthritis)
Nice explanation. And sorry for your fall. Get well soon!
I like your interpretation. I am new to Tarot so I don’t want to comment much on your reading. I find myself looking for positives (opportunity) in the cards… maybe a bit too much. In any case, I think your conclusion would work for me, too.
What a neat way to use the printable! I love what you did with it!
As for your reading, I have some notes that might help you I didn’t see in your post that you were okay with advice on the reading, so I’ve put my notes under the read-more below so you can choose to look at it or ignore it
my notes on your reading
Card One: I think your interpretation of Temperance for this question is pretty spot-on. I would just add that it may also be a reminder that as long as you approach shadow work with a balanced perspective, you will manage just fine. Some people tend to jump head-first into something, and for you, shadow work might be something that needs one step at a time with some breaks in between rather than jumping into everything all at once.
Card Two: The Ten of Swords is a card of finality and crisis, but things have ended and the challenge is over. For this question, it makes sense to me to interpret it as finding support in those you turn to during a crisis or very difficult point in your life. This would be someone who, as you said, can help you see that all things come to an end and there is light at the end of every tunnel.
Card Three: You’re right about The Devil card. It’s a reminder that sometimes the shackles we experience are of our own making. Once we realize that we have control over ourselves and the habits we’ve created, it’s much easier to shift them off and build something new. That kind of knowledge can bring peace and clarity when you realize the control is in your hands, not someone else’s.
Card Four: I see the Six of Swords as a card of change and transition. It’s moving from one point of your life, the known, to another point of your life, the unknown. This card warns that working with your shadows will make you uncomfortable and you’ll have to be okay with letting some things go that you cling to, whether those are ideas or habits or even truths you once held. As long as you’re okay with change and transformation, working with your shadow seems like it’ll be beneficial to you right now.
Thanks for your responses everyone. My finger is still hurting (and sticking out like the proverbial sore thumb, lol) but I have an appointment with the doctor this afternoon.
@MeganB thank you so much for the further input. Since I’m completely new to shadow work (as well as everything else on this path I have chosen) I’m definitely going to go slowly and one step at a time, as you suggest.
Thank you @laurel. I finally was able to get an appointment with the doctor on Tuesday.
Nothing broken, thank goodness, and of course, since I had the appointment, my finger was feeling much better and would even bend a bit, just some bruising and swelling.
Of course I know the feeling of a dislocated joint. I’ve dislocated both my knees at least once in confusing ways. Like once I was getting in my stepmother‘s car and my left knee dislocated. It hasn’t happened in a while now. The first dislocation I had in either knee was a few years ago while I was cleaning up my bedroom and while I was cleaning the rubbish from the area under my bed at the time it dislocated out of nowhere.
