Apple Galette

I made an Easy Apple Galette with 5 leftover apples from my apple picking trip!

It does look a bit crispy in this picture, but the egg wash made it look like this, but it’s perfect and delicious!

I also made a stove top simmer pot out of the apple peels and other spices and it smells wonderful in the house!

This may be a dumb question…but what’s a Galette?

LOL @MeganB Right?! Galette is a term used in French cuisine to designate various types of flat round or freeform crusty cakes. It’s basically a round pastry wrapped and fruit filled dessert (or you can make a savory one) that is baked on a baking sheet. Some often think a galette might be a pie or a tart but a pie is baked in a pie dish and tarts in a tart pan.

Well, I learned something new today! Thank you!

They both look super tasty though. I mean, don’t eat the simmer pot  but still!

An autumn apple treat and a spicy simmer pot- you aren’t kidding, your house must smell absolutely divine, @jan_TheGreenWitch! :two_hearts:

Egg wash does tend to do that, but it really does make it tastier! Besides, a little crispiness gives a good texture :yum::+1:

Enjoy, Jan! :sparkling_heart:
