As I was looking up salamanders in this book, I found this. It looks interesting. The book is The Way of the Witch by Sally Morningstar. (A favourite of mine)
The part about an astral room is so similar to this spiritual home/realm thing Iāve been working on all year. Iāve built this up in my head like this impossible thing, but I just need to take the next step and start journeying.
Iām imagining @CelestiaMoon giggling () and reminding me that I was telling her about doing this a while ago.
Lesson for others: Donāt be like me and overthink it.
(Also, Iād actually started including a blueprint for peopleās spiritual homes in my deity readings as of about a month ago, and didnāt see the connection there, either. )
Awww, your head Celestia is either smarter than I am or just paying attention Iāve kinda had my attention elsewhere, Iām seeing a business coach whoās determined to put me out there and finally get this show on the road
You canāt make me
Youāre welcome to try though
Astral travel is kind of this big mysterious thing to me too to be honest, Iām enjoying hearing yāall demystify it
Thank you for your post. The same thing happened to me. I had it happen without trying and on one time it happened, it was like I was day dreaming but sleeping/waking up in the morning. When I finally took a look around and realized something was different, that I was above my body, I landed with a JOLT back into my body and woke up with the bed shaking! I must have jumped in the bed when this happened! Trying to do it a few different times, either nothing happened, or some light idiosyncrasies happenedā¦like viewing a clock that was out of view then opening my eyes and the clock had the same timeā¦or on a time when I wasnāt trying I felt like suddenly I was Egyptianā¦floating over my body but had a distinct sense that I was Egyptianā¦surrounded by catsā¦but floating andā¦as weird as it sounds, also mummified, newly mummified. I felt numb but awareā¦of everything. Other times when I tried to do it I got very, very close and thenā¦YES! Just like you! I got like on a razorās edge close to rolling into it but had a horrifying FEAR of something, I donāt know what, but my person, my soul, my beingā¦said, āHELL NO!ā LOL So, I donāt know what thatās all about. I really wish I could go exploreā¦like go places weāre told we canāt go to learn about what weāre curious about, such as the Vatican Library, or back into the past? If possible to travel to a different time, then to see the Library of Alexandria? Or explore caves of the off limit areas of the Grand Canyonā¦stuff like that. Thank you again for your post and if thereās a place to go to listen to the complete set of tapes then Iād LOVE to do that! All the best.
This has always been my interest in astral projection, too! I want to go visit all the places I wouldnāt normally be able to get to. I want to see the world, even if it is from the Astral instead of physically
That“s what I was thinking as well. Sorry, guys, I“m late to the party!
Astral travel is something that“s interesting me so much, but I“m not sure if the concept is any different than well practiced visualisation? Because I always believed, astral travel was spiritual travel but in a way that“s in touch with the material, earthly realm. For example, that someone could journey to my room maybe and - without ever having seen it - describe it through this experience.
As a jungian art therapist meditation and visualization are a big part of the therapeutic training and practice and I had quite some moments, where I experienced a sense of āleavingā my body, in the sense of not being aware of it anymore.
Is this astral travelling or something else? Some people say it is similar to dreaming? Or is it like zoning out? I have a Cptsd brain, that practiced zoning out to internal safe places since early childhoodā¦is it like this?
I would be so interested in finding out, if what I“m doing is astral travel or something else. I keep reading about it, and the experiences seem to be so similiar to a deep state of meditative visualisation.
No need to apologize - if a discussion is open, the conversation is just waiting to be rekindled. Youāre always welcome to jump in!
Others may define it differently, but I view meditation, visualization, and lucid dreaming as powerful practices that occur within the Self. They can happen within oneās Inner Temple, mindspace, or dreams, and can occur during different states of being (awake/asleep/in a trance), but they all happen within the world of the practitioner/the Self.
In contrast, astral travel involves spiritually leaving oneās body and personal world to travel to other realms. This is why astral travel is sometimes seen as more risky than the other practices, because it involves leaving the Self (where we have more control) and going to outside places that may be harder to influence or have control over.
Iām not an astral travel expert and itās not something Iām currently working on, so those who are experts may have better advice for you. But I can vouch that meditations and visualizations can be extremely vivid and lifelike! I can see how it might be hard to tell the difference.
Iād suggest that one way to tell is, during the experience, to try to adapt or change the situation. In a visualization or meditation, the practitioner ultimately has full control over the world, characters, and scenario. This becomes a bit harder in dreams when our conscious mind takes a back seat to our deeper conscious, but those training their lucid dreaming abilities should be able to become lucid and take control of the dream.
Itās not a perfect method, and being able to easily alter a situation within a visualization or dream is a skill to be trained, but it could be worth a try.
@BryWisteria yes, they really can be! For example I will be able to feel the grass under my feet, hear sounds, feel the warmth of the sund and notice smellsā¦things happen, that IĀ“m not consciously visualizing; sometimes there are conversations with spirit guides or animals and thereĀ“s also a certain space in a forest clearing, where IĀ“m building altars and do magick spellsā¦especially during the time, where I didnĀ“t have a physical altar, I started building the most elaborate and splendid altars in my spiritual journeys.
I have fun doing this, but I never have the sensation of actually leaving my body. Which I would love to experience, only for the fact of seeing myself from the outside perspective. How cool would that be?
I“ve occasionally experienced lucid dreams, which was actually pretty interesting and fun. But also, it just happened and I wouldn“t know how to train for this.
I definitely would love to learn more about astral travel and find out if it would be at all possible for me to practice.
So, if someone could point me to some books that share deeper knowledge, I would be very grateful!
It sounds like you have some truly wonderful experiences! Thereās still a possibility that it could be astral travel, but perhaps you are inviting these spirit guides into your space? Itās possible to invite others (especially deities, spirits, ancestors, or others you have a connection with) into your personal world, or, like dreams, your deeper conscious may also step in to help craft wonders alongside your conscious mind. Could be a possibility!
You know, the more I think about visualizations vs. astral travel, the more I realize just how hard it can be to tell them apart! This is a great area to explore - thank you for opening up this discussion, Katharina!
Thatās really neat! Do you think you may have crafted an Inner Temple? Itās a great way to cast spells or practice, no matter where your physical body is.
Thatās awesome! It sounds like you have a natural knack for lucid dreaming Again, I wouldnāt say Iām an expert, but I went through a period in my Craft where I was training for lucid dreaming and found there are a bunch of strategies, visualizations, and methods to try. I found that having some kind of marker worked for me - it involved choosing an item and asking myself if I was dreaming whenever I saw it (both awake and asleep). It becomes a habit that works in the dream world, and can be a key to realizing youāre asleep, which can then lead to lucidity.
Iāve drifted away from my training (too many other things to study!), but there are plenty of resources around! If youāre interested in lucid dreaming, you may find this discussion helpful:
Itās an older book that may not be up to date on recent discoveries in the fields of sleep and dreams, but I enjoyed Lucid Dreaming Plain and Simple by Robert Waggoner.
I hope others will have some additional astral travel and lucid dreaming book recs for you!
Yes, this is happening for sure, because I always want everyone, also disembodied beings, to have a safe and cosy home. So, over the years my space became well populated with dragons, animal spirits, servitors that I created once for specific magickal purposes and a crone, that seems to live there forever and I don“t really know where she came from. lol
@BryWisteria this is exactly what I“m doing! Thank you for sending me the link, now I know what it“s called.
I“m going to dive deeper into the lucid dreaming topic, thank you for sharing the book recommendation, that“s awesome!
That is so kind of you! Those spirits and animals are very blessed to have found such a warm and inviting place with you
My pleasure! Astral travel and lucid dreaming are such fascinating areas, I canāt help but get excited when others are diving in to explore them
Wishing you all the best of luck - please keep us updated and feel free to share any experiences (if youāre comfortable sharing them!) here. Have fun!
Witches Iām happy to share some all my out of body experiences! I tend to have them a lot know Iāve been practicing hypnosis and has been a channel for me to some or many experiences! My hope is that you guys make a sacred bubble before yāall go to bed because once you go into the Astro world. I have so many stories I donāt know where to start!
First, one I shared a while ago where I did a hypnosis and I felt like I was in top of the ceiling. I couldnāt leave my room. I went from one side to the other, and I felt like I was stuck but really far away from my body.
I used to get these really bad dreams and felt like I was being thrown around everywhere but once I stood up to this energy it stopped.I have had a long journey!
Once this happened but since I trusted more itās way better! Know I can get to a higher place. I hope that you would be in a good headspace. Believe at first I was scared but I felt like I needed to do a hypnosis again to have this experience.
It was the most liberating experience Iāve had and Iāve had more but the one that really sticks out is when I popped out of the body in astral projection and went up to the top of the room same thing like before. Only this time I said in my heart and mind and thought I want to get out of this room. Then the most liberating moment I was outside and I felt like I was my body outside the room in the sky flying!
in my mind eye I wanted to fly anywhere at the time cause I had not figured out I could have more control with where I was going till later. I think you should direct and say I want to go xyz !
I think I could write a book on this lol Iām very passionate about this topic!
I decided to fly and when I saw trees I flew for a while and lost my flight! It was new When I came down there was a being smaller than me glitching in and out. Like a computer Iām still wondering why at this moment I wanted to go back home I was scared and it ran with me. I got my flight back and my spirit knew where to go in astral and I was seeing my body when I got back it wasnāt that long!
I would really like to try Gateway Samantha 57. Iām not sure I could really handle all of the things that you have to remember.. I have tried it and I hear really great things about it, but I know that it takes work and you have to remember the first phase and then the second phase and all that. Iāll have to try to give it a go again..if I can remember lol
Hi Heather 75 I feel like I am pretty experienced. This is one of my astral travels. Actually I have another experience where I go through the walls and itās actually like Iām actually going through the walls so this is a little different than the other one. I feel like Iām spirit I actually have another experience that I do wanna share, but itās quite personal and I actually feel like Iām in a good group where I feel like I can actually share this because itās kinda embarrassing
Iāve had Astrral sex three times! So I need help with this maybe someone can help me??

There all different kinds of travels and I believe some dreams are in astral worlds because Iāve seen some pretty different beings eyes that are green. . I did not record and thatās bad because I recorded for a long time and I love to go back on them!
Hello Katrina thank you I do have a couple books on Astro travel no one in particular.so I think thatās important!! No credibility so Iāll look into this!!
Bre - Iām so glad you made this post thank you
I am trying to feel better and itās always so nice to dive into these topics!!
Jeannie
This is a very interesting topic and thank you Jeannie for sharing your experiences. You are right it is essential to protection your body while Astral Travelling and Projecting. It sounds so liberating and glad you are in control.
I have had out of body experiences although mine are in a different way they are more connected to the spiritual world. Please feel free to read my profile and I would highly recommend reading The Hedgewitch and the Art of Walking Between Worlds very informative. I have put a post on that yesterday. Enjoy your flying.
