Baby Witch Exhaustion?

Looking back on how much relief i have had in just not quite 3 weeks, puts a smile on my face. Ive only had two believers ìn my scope of
friends that i feel comfortable being truthful about my beliefs with. I would like to ask about my energy being zapped when i search and read different topics here on Spells8. I can really feel the positive community vibe, but i get so exhausted. Is it normal for a baby witch to become so tiered from wanting to experience the topics I’m interested in? I could stay on this site for hours…!!!

Hey @Hopecouture36 :waving_hand: I hope you don’t mind, but I moved your comment to its own post so it didn’t get lost in the other thread.

Yes, absolutely!

This actually has nothing to do with energy being zapped, witchcraft, or spiritual topics. Learning about new topics can be fun and exciting, but it is also mentally exhausting. You’re exercising your “brain muscles” and working on your neuroplasticity. When learning new things and exploring different paths and connections, your brain is also working hard, making new connections between neural pathways, and connecting what you currently know with what you’re learning. Brain power uses a lot of glucose – it’s the preferred energy source of the brain – so, it’s only natural that when your brain is processing a lot of information and working really hard, you get tired from simply learning and thinking.

Over time, it will get easier and less exhausting. If the exhaustion gets too bad, I would advise taking a break or reducing the amount of information you’re taking in.

It’s probably not the site, but more being online. I personally find if I’m just online too much I get energy drained. Maybe just take a break, grab a witchy book if you love study, a hot cuppa and take in some nature. Barefoot on grass is always a good refresher to the mind and soul. :green_heart:

This is also a good point – being online or even staring at a screen for long periods of time can affect your eyes and cause eye strain. This can make you feel tired, too!

You are so right…!!! …I want to read and learn so much. I will set my timer for an hour then pick back up serval hours later or the next day. It is a happy exhaustion from learning new things on Spells8. Thank you for your advice

I was 100% coming to say the same thing! The thrill of a new interest is exhilarating, but what goes up must come down, and it explains the exhaustion. I would say try to moderate how much you are doing and researching to keep from wearing yourself out (and potentially leading to burnout), but I know that’s easier said than done with something that captures your mind and heart! You might want to add in some time for self-care to switch gears and give a little breather.

Yes…self care and learning how to protect and increase my energy is something i need to do as much as learning all the great suff here on Spells8. Everything in moderation…!!

The exhaustion you are feeling is normal for anyone learning new things they like. It is caused by the same thing that made you back in school years. overworking of your brain. try to not over work yourself and remember to take breaks as you go.

Not only baby witches, but also more experienced witches! More than once I’ve been out of touch with tarot or runes or magic in general for a week or two because I feel tired or without enough energy to cast a spell or do divination or something like that, and it’s very very normal.

Magic requires a lot of energy and we’re not machines, we can feel low from time to time. Use this time to meditate and to rest, and as soon as you feel the calling of the magic in your soul again go for it!!

Blessed be

Several have commented that this happens. I was burned out for a couple of days recently. I had to back off and just do relaxing things. Like many, I keep finding a shiny object and start obsessing. :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye: It is easy to say this is a journey and not a marathon (which it is) but I still get absorbed and spend too much time staring at things. My eyes burn, my mind goes a bit whacky and I don’t absorb much. Even a day or so relaxing helps a lot. Your energy isn’t being stolen. It will be there when you get back in the groove.

And that makes me smile too, so thank you for sharing!

It might help if you try to erase the word “normal” from your witchy life; we weave magic, NONE of us are normal, and thank the Heavens for that.

Normal or not, we are human, and constantly using our energy all the time - physical, mental, emotional and spiritual energy, we’re also using them all at the same time when we do magic, but more intensely. Learning of any kind will also require all of your available energy, so it will go down as you use more.

I used to tell clients to imagine that they have 5 bowls of energy every day; one day you might use 2 bowls for your family, 2 bowls for work, 1 bowl for household chores…and there are no bowls left for you. Everyone and everything else is taken care of, but you’re exhausted and have no energy left for yourself. In your case, if you’re using all of your bowls for studying witchcraft - because that’s what we’re doing here everyday, learning at the virtual Hogwarts - then you will undoubtedly drain your energy pretty fast. Now ask yourself, would you let Super Mario drain, or would you top up his energy regularly? Exactly - just like a computer game character, you need to top up your energy to prevent depletion; so ask yourself, what’s my hamburger, or what’s my fireflower - what will get my energy up?

The suggestions from the lovelies are perfect examples, and I’m sure you have your own box of sparkles - sometimes I listen to my Move playlist, as in every song on there makes me move, brings me joy, like I literally can’t help but dance. Find what works for you, the things that get your good vibez flowing, and work them into your day - just like taking breaks during a work day or study session. Do what you need to do to get your energy levels up, and if you get stuck ask yourself what would Super Mario do?

Learning is hard work!! Focus is hard work!! It is totally normal! There is such a wealth of information here on the forum and so many kind and talented witches to share it with you and patiently answer questions…

Slow down! Being a beginning is a journey and you should be able to enjoy it. It is so amazing to feel validated, to feel like you belong, to have the information you’ve wanted and needed right at your fingertips. I get it!

But the forum isn’t going anywhere! It will be here. So take what you can and process it, make it your own, and come back to other things as you’re ready (it’s so hard!). Enjoy learning.

I have been here 3 years now and I am still learning! That’s what’s so wonderful. As I’ve learned (and I have learned SO much) and I’ve grown (I have grown SO much), I’ve found that things that didn’t resonate with me at one point or another suddenly do and I’m free to pursue them, or not.

You’ll never know everything. We will be students forever! Isn’t that marvelous??

Yay  don’t forget to engage different kinds of sparkles (coping mechanisms, distractions, whatever phrase you choose), so a physical sparkle example would be a nature walk or exercise, anything physical, a mental sparkle could be playing a computer game or doing a crossword, a spiritual sparkle could be a chakra realignment or negative energy cleanse, an emotional sparkle could be writing down how you’re feeling or a few things you’re grateful for, or listening to an emotional song, anything which engages your emotions positively. Have fun building your box of sparkles!

Yes!! :clap:t4::clap:t4::clap:t4::clap:t4::clap:t4::clap:t4:

ETA: I don’t know how I forgot to mention soul sparkles, my bad - we all have things which nourish our soul!

I enjoyed your explanation of this. Thank you. I need to create a CD of Good Vibrations and similar songs. I have some for rest or the inner child or self esteem or defiance, but nothing for feeding.

You’re most welcome! And I have a playlist for my inner child too, mostly Disney and cartoon songs from my childhood. And yes, feeding is extremely important too!

I love how you use bowels of energy as an example. No doubt, I’m last to get any crumbs from my bowels. I’m a visual learner, so having bowels of energy is an excellent way for me to “see” and “save” a bowel for myself. Thank you for the visual bowel of energy!!!

Yessssss 100% agree with @MeganB maybe try meditating before “browsing” any witchy stuff. Doing that can give u clarity. Its not just a novice thing, experienced witches get burnt out, or zapped of energy. Being a witch is a wonderful thing, but it is hard. Its a lifetime of study. Anyone who ever tells u they know it all and dont need anymore study. They are a liar. We all grow, as we grow so does our knowledge. Knowledge is POWER love. And u are all the power u will ever need. Yes herbs and other tools are awesome to use. But not always necessary. herbs and other tools are great help to boost your spell. If u set your intention (good or bad) doesnt matter. Bc magik isnt black or white. Its all in the caster’s intentions that twist and turn magik. Many blessings to you. Welcome home.

@AileyGrey lovey i just love u so much. I remeber when u started on here too. So shy. Look at u noe babe. So proud of u for coming into your own
