Back after awhile

A bit of a re-intoduction of sorts but I thought it was appropriate given that it’s been awhile since I have last been here in the forums.

My name is Mathew but I go by Mattie or Matt. I am an eclectic Wiccan who lives in Connecticut. I left witchcraft and paganism for awhile to search elsewhere for the Divine, namely Christianity but I have decided that it definitely not for me and I now seek to undue the mental, emotional and spiritual damage it has caused me. I am trying hard to break free from the harmful worldview that it perpetuates and that’s so ingrained in our society and culture.

I am starting again new with the Craft and rebuilding from a fresh start with a worldview that doesn’t claim that our nature is inherently broken and in need of fixing.

Wicca had always given me peace and a deep spiritual connection with nature has been what I have truly needed. Being connected with Nature and divinity within it has given me new peace without all the guilt and shame that Christianity comes with.

Hi, @Mattie_Nox! Welcome! I’m Amethyst from Southern West Virginia. We’re glad you returned to us!

I think it’s almost weird, there are a lot of us who got into Wicca or Paganism, and life got weird and then we came back to it. So yeah, we’re glad you’re back! I hope you can find what you’re looking for here!

I remember you lovely. Welcome home. Spirit is with us no matter where in life we find ourselves and which road we have tried. Nice to see you again :green_heart:

Thank you. I feel much better now that I have returned to paganism and witchcraft. I am just learning to unburden myself with toxic theology and spiritual baggage from conventional organized religions. Going to use the New Moon energy for a new beginning and releasing what no longer serves me.

Welcome back, Mattie! I hope you feel stronger having taken another look at what we can acknowledge is the predominant religion in our culture - and you reached your own conclusion that it did not serve you. Be proud of yourself.

Welcome back!

A perfect way to close the door.

Blessed be! :feather:

Thanks. It’s been a struggle finding what path works best for me but I feel like paganism, particularly Wicca is my true calling. I’ve practiced before in the past and it’s always held a great interest with me. It’s just difficult not having anyone else to share this particular spiritual path with since pagans are a small minority of people, I believe that’s the only thing that’s truly kept me from committing to it.

Spending time in nature lately has been helping me see that while it may not be the dominant religion and there aren’t as many people practice it, it’s more about my personal connection with the natural world and the ability to see the magick in everything.

What’s great about it as well is that I can practice it anyway that I wish and find what works for me and what doesn’t.

Welcome back, @Mattie_Nox. Good to see you.

I’m Georgia, in New Mexico.

It’s amazing how quickly the damage happens! Especially with the words they use which are supposed to be uplifting and forgiving. It’s so easy to get lost.

I’ve been studying religious history, lately. My upbringing has been causing all kinds of weird reactions. I’ve been getting lost as well.

I like how you put that. Thank you.

We are here with you. We may not be many, we may not be local, but we can support each other through this.

Welcome back @Mattie_Nox ! Glad you found your way back to us. I’m from Minnesota and have been practicing many different aspects of the craft for 35+ years. I’m constantly learning and growing in my practice. I have a strong pull towards divination and necromancy but I also work with voodoo and chaos magick.

Feel free to join in on any of the forum discussions. And ask questions anytime.

Blessings :purple_heart::purple_heart::purple_heart:

Welcome home, @Mattie_Nox! It’s lovely to hear from you again

Good for you! That’s a great goal, and with the upcoming sabbat marking a new period in the cycle and a fresh beginning, I’d say it’s a lovely time to embark on a new or renewed journey.

Cheering for you! Blessed be :sparkles:

It helps me to remember that most large organizations (news, religious, pharma, political, etc) are not there to provide comfort but to provide anxiety so people will think they have to agree and follow them. Sorting out the BS to find truth is sometimes hard.

That is a very astute observation, @dan3.
