Birds are magical

I have been in quite a mood today, and not my favorite one. Painting these birds helped me break through to a better one.

Birds are magical. I have a zebra finch who has free flight of the house. He likes his cages, the bedroom and the bathroom the best. Albus lets me know what needs to be done, when. If I’m doing laundry and get distracted, he tells me when to put the wash in the drier or reminds me to fold my clothes. He lands on the floor if I need to sweep, reminds me to eat, alerts me if I ignore the cooking timer, and insists on listening to his music each day. I am Albus’ mate, since his wife died of cancer several years ago. I got in his face and pulled his emotions away from self immolation. When I don’t feel well, he returns the favor.

These may seem like mundane issues to many, but to me, they are special, and Albus is super smart. I know all birds can be trained to daily patterns, but each bird has its own personality and favorite activities.

This is stunning! I love the combination of hard and soft lines you used to draw the birds. It makes them feel lifelike and gentle. They’re very pleasing to see! :yellow_heart: :pink_heart: :bird:

Beautiful work, @aaronb - thanks for sharing!

I love what you wrote. Finding beauty in the mundane is a kind of magic, too.

How beautiful! The colours speak to me, although the birds are gorgeous too…the energising colours mixed with soothing colours is quite enchanting, thank you for sharing!

Beautiful colors! Purple and yellow are kind of magical together, don’t you think? I like the position of the birds, too.

Wonderful work! We’ll have to start an artist’s thread; I’ve seen a lot of talent in this coven!

I love your interpretations.

I’ve been designing a Lenormand deck but I’ve been using AI so my only challenge has been convincing the AI that someone with three legs wasn’t acceptable.

Lenormand can be really trippy.

I appreciate that so much. I have been making art for a really long time, but only recently have gotten comfortable with the word artist.

It suits you! I want to show you something if you don’t mind. Your bird painting made me think of THIS PAINTING :framed_picture: my sister made me when we were kids:

I’ve had this my whole life. My mom never encouraged the arts. I was horrible at art.

Here’s one of mine:

Mr. Mac, who was our ART TEACHER, changed my life though. It’s funny, he followed me as I changed schools. I don’t think it’s a coincidence….

It is because of MR. MAC that I left the Accounting Profession to become a Spiritual Healer. My sister and I saw him and his band play last May in NYC! I hadn’t left my job yet….

MR. MAC was a free spirit and encouraged me to be one too. I told him I was not an Artist, but he told me that I was. That there is an Artist inside of me and that I can be whomever or whatever I want to be.

Mr. Mac was one the best thing to ever happen to me! The glimmer of light when I needed one! He understood me when no one else did!

I could go on all day. You get the picture.

Your painting brought back all of these wonderful memories!

Thank you!

Blessed Be!

Those paintings are lovely. Yours reminds me of a Paul Klee, and your sister’s looks like a happier and better adjusted Van Gogh. Mr. MAC sounds wonderful. Everyone needs one like him in their lives. It sounds like you are truly honoring him. Blessed be.

A different kind of art.

This showed up on FB today. It is from several years ago. The eagle is going Warp 3 through a housing area hotly pursued by a Red Wing Blackbird. The irony here is that the bird flu epidemic has reduced both species drastically. They can no longer be found in this location.

Really powerful image. I hope someday they can be found together again.
