I was curious on thoughts/beliefs about broken glass. In the last 3 days I’ve had 2 different occurrences with it (not typical for me).
Hit my crystal protection necklace hanging from the rearview mirror in my car and it chipped the windshield. This chip turned into an entire cracked windshield over night.
Dropped my phone and it chipped the glass protector. This chip turned into an entire cracked glass protector that actually cut me.
Went to grab my soda and hit the makeup mirror next to my bed and it fell and shattered both sides.
I am genuinely curious on this because I’m making some major life choices with relocation across the country, or to the islands, and selling belongings and leaving a new relationship behind. Does anyone have any insight on this or thoughts?
I was going to give myself a reading, but I’m genuinely skeptical about reading for myself. I’d be interested in a reading exchange! Lol!!
1 Were any of these items gifts? Soda, mirror, phone, necklace, or car? Think back over shared memories for clues.
I’ve had gifts from friends break when a relationship was about to break. Seeing you are planning a move, it could be notifying you that long distance relationships will fade or break outright. Do you want to rely on those relationships?
2 Are you sensing anything about the move itself?
This request could be a drawing toward or a sense of repulsion or fear. Pay attention to your instincts. Excitement can cover warnings.
3 The breakage could be a removal of energies. I had this happen when I was preparing for a move which fell through. I needed the cleansing of energy around me. Some items I had not paid attention to (tucked away in boxes or in a closet) were energetically connected to people who were no longer in my life. Basically, I had memories which were no longer serving me. I needed to clear these items out before I could clearly see the path before me. The items themselves broke in some cases; but in others, I was searching for replacements of the broken items when I found the energetic connections- eg. searching for a cup revealed a pillow given by someone I’d once been close to, but the pillow wasn’t made of what she’d said it was. Cat hair all over it revealed a need to be cleaned. That type thing.
4 Who were you trying to contact when you got cut by your phone? Is this person dangerous? Are you communicating properly to get things done in time?
5 Do you believe in the superstition of broken mirrors? Be extra careful, here.
6 It could be that you are rushing too much out of stress and need to slow down, calm yourself, take deep breaths…
7 Are you friends with local fairies or other spirits? They could be seeing you preparing for a move and may need confirmation that they can come with you. Sit them down for a chat or tea and share your intentions. Make sure to listen to what they may have to say.
It sounds like your intuition has hinted at some meanings for you, and Georgia has kindly shared many more suggestions about how to read into broken items. If I can add one more to the table, there’s actually a guide on the site about possible ways to read broken glass as a symbol or message:
If I can offer some encouragement, in all my years in the Craft and reading tarot I’ve come to firmly believe that we are the best people to read our own signs and messages. This is because symbols can have very personal interpretations, things that might only be picked up on by the one they were intended to see. As such, while others can offer points and suggest guidance, it is always worthwhile to try a self reading.
If you feel called to do so, you’re welcome to come by the October Tarot Discussion - it’s a great and supportive place to get some practice with your cards this month, as well as the daily prompts to help guide your readings!
If you’re still not quite ready, no worries - the talented @MeganB offers free readings every weekend. Here is the previous Weekend Divination post to help you get a feel for what she does. There will be a new one on Friday.
