CHALLENGE ENTRY 3 – MAGICK ON THE GO
I wanted to use this challenge to introduce an area of astrology that may not be familiar to many people…Astro cartography.
This branch of astrology focuses on mapping the astrological energies and planetary influences across different locations on Earth. The basic idea is that the movement of the celestial bodies at our time of birth can influence our lives, not only in our place of birth but in other places that we may visit or even decide to move to.
It creates a special maps that plots the positions of planets across the Earth’s surface. This shows where certain influences are strongest for the person. It can help an individual to understand the impact that moving to or visiting certain places may have on their life. It can also highlight certain life areas such as career, relationships, health, or spirituality and locations where these life areas may be most supported or challenged. Astro cartography can also be used in mundane astrology, which is the branch of astrology that looks at world events, countries and cultures. Mapping astrological data can show possible developments and challenges in different areas of the world.

This is my chart:
The glyphs of the planets are shown on the axes and their “energy lines” are shown across the map. Similar to an “orb” when dealing with aspects, these lines extend from 50-300 miles on either side of the line (depending on the orb size being used). The general meaning of each planet’s energy line is:
Here’s a general overview of what the energy lines for each planet mean in Astro cartography:

Example
I am not going to go through my whole chart but will focus on Venus (as it rules my Sun sign) and Uranus (as it rules my Moon sign).
Venus touches parts of USA, Canada, Greenland and western Africa on my chart. It also intercepts the Pacific islands to the East of Australia. These are areas that are good for my creativity, relationships and overall enjoyment in life.
Venus on the AC brings the good life: indulging in good food, shopping till you drop and you feel good about your appearance. This is where your senses are indulged and life is relaxed and easy-going. Locations include the Canary Islands off the West Coast of Africa.
Venus on the DC shows where you will have pleasant getaways or places where you may find the love of your life. It is also a suitable place for proposals, marriages and honeymoons. Locations on my chart include Vanuatu and the Solomon Islands, beautiful places but unfortunately out of my reach.
Venus on the MC may lessen the need for recognition and career achievement and replace it with seeking pleasure. Creative careers will shine here and you may be recognised for work in the arts, fashion or design. Locations on my chart include India.
Venus on the IC is where you create a family life you love. It’s a place for creative self-expression, family love and enjoying the simple joys of life. Locations on my chart include areas of Canada, North and South Dakota, Colorado and parts of Mexico.
On my chart, Uranus intercepts parts of the USA, Canada, Germany, Italy, Egypt and Kenya. These are areas that foster a sense of freedom, creativity and unconventional thinking.
Uranus on the AC is where you can be your authentic self. It is where you may find the real you in terms of your appearance and outlook. Areas on my chart include Los Angeles and San Jose in USA and Calgary in Canada.
Uranus on the DC is where interesting and non-traditional relationships can form but can also be too spontaneous and random. People will appear exciting, authentic and inspiring in these places. Places on my map include Reykjavik in Iceland, Amsterdam in the Netherlands and Munich in Germany.
Uranus on the MC suggests areas of success in entrepreneurship, technological careers and scientific research. These are places of breakthroughs and sudden new career opportunities. Areas on my map include Eastern Canada and Brazil.
Uranus on the IC suggests areas where you can break free and start anew, away from restrictive family traditions and expectations. These places can also be unsettling so its good to visit before making any moves. Areas on my map include South Korea, Japan and Northern Australia.
The chart can also be used to identify places for different purposes e.g.
Look at the Mercury line for finding places to study.
Look at the Neptune line for spiritual pursuits
Look at the Jupiter line for areas for travel or abundance.
Jupiter, Venus and the Sun indicate positive destinations while Mars and Saturn suggest more challenging locations.
This is a new area of astrology for me but I found it quite interesting to find out where in the world is best suited to me for different purposes.
blessed be
Alan
