Challenge Entry: Earth magic
In studying Egypt, what’s the first thing you think of…Sand.
Did you know it is forbidden to take sand out of Egypt. Why? Because, believe it or not, sand is an exhaustible resource.
According to Business insider 2018 about 50 billion tons a year is used by man. We’re talking microchips, cosmetics, medications and concrete and so on.
It is also having a negative impact on the over all environment.
Mostly it’s sourced from the bottom of rivers, lakes and oceans.
Did you know that the beaches of the world are shrinking?
And on the Gulf coast alone, A small fortune is, spent every year to shore (pardon the pun) up beaches as they erode.
Getting back to Earth and Egyptian magic.
Earth, over the eons was used ceremonially to paint the bodies of people.
Amazing pictograms that are just now being discovered around the world.
Magic and religion were inseparable.
*The Temple priests used the dry desert send as a natural drying agent preserving bodies buried in shallow pits.
*Egyptians used ivory wands to draw circles in the sand to create a protected space around pregnant women and children.
That’s not far removed from the sacred space we use in our present day magick.
*It is historically noted that sand was used for Portal Summoning and of course modern man (the learned ones) has dismissed as fantasy, hum.
Sand was used as a Medium in making jewelry.
In summery, It is my belief and man, magic and earth are interconnected.
Even today colored soil is used in some of the older religions.
Blessed be
