This might be what I am looking to do. Very individualized to the spell length. Thanks for the tip!
Your welcome!
Now this is also a great idea. Making it an extended spell even though it was not initially intended that way. Thank you.
I do that with the glass jar candles you can get at the dollar store. They take a long time to burn all the way down, so I light it everyday with the same intention.
These are some of the candles I have made from beeswax. You can make them smaller and looser and they will burn faster.
Good point. Thank you. I am truly a beginner (clearly!). But I’ve had good results so far in my (limited) spellwork. I haven’t carved candles yet. I have re-used candles for multi-day spells.
You can also roll a paper with your intentions on it in the beeswax candles. You can load it with herbs. (Use caution with that. Make sure the herbs are chopped finely or powdered so it’s not a fire hazard. I learned that the hard way. Lol).
I have a larger white votive candle that I reuse on my altar that is not specifically associated with a particular spell. But it helps me to connect and center me and provides me focus before I begin spellwork.
I have a purple candle on my altar right now. I wrote “learn something new & valuable” on the glass. It looks blue in the pic, but it’s purple.
I haven’t read through all the comments to see if anyone else has mentioned this but I don’t always burn down my candle all the way every spell. I reuse my candle with rare expects depending on the spell it was used for. Plus I found you can break a chime candle in half and if you do it carefully, you can have an intact wick for both, takes a little cracking off some wax but then you have two shorter candles that usually burn down in a shorter period. The little nub if I can get them out of my holders, I melt down to reuse for another project. Just my random thoughts after waking up from a nap!
Ooh great idea! Thanks.
Thats a great idea @Artemisia! I haven’t thought of that! I learn something new everyday.
I do have beeswax to make candles also. I also have 2 tall jar candles that I will light every day that have the same intention. One purification & 1 protection. Any wax that pools or is too much for the wick, I save to make another candle with the se intention & cleansing the used wax adding cleansing herbs or oils (depending) to sort of reset the candle & rid any energy that it may have absorbed or protected against.
Each of those candles are on specific altars with the deities they’d most be related to. Each deity also has their own candles & holders that I burn to completion when specifically working with them whether a meeting, ritual, spell… whatever it may be.
I also have assiciated crystal pieces that I will add for the intention of the candle when saving the wax from candles I can do so with to cleanse & use for the se intention. I will add them along with herbs or oils. I mix them rather than anointed or dressed in those cases because the wax goes from 1 jar to another.
Depending on what happens with the candle & jar while burning, I won’t reuse it, but dispose of it because it clearly worked very hard to do some work. Whatever it was doing, clearly needs to be away from me.
@BlueAngelite Im pretty sure most of I’m going to say was already said but I’m gonna say it anyway I smoke cleanse all my tools before I start a spell, which includes a candle. I usually let my burn out safely. But my question would be why not reuse it after you smoke cleanse? The colors are mostly used with the same intentions…not all the time. I also agree with nit wasting. You have some great ideas and I’m sure you’ll find what works for you!
I love that as well.
I had, well have a new one right now, a protection candle in a tall jar. As it was burning it went crazy. The jar cracked in a few places down the side, the wax was bleeding through the cracks. I was beside myself. I’ve never had a candle do anything close to this 1 between the burn, glass, & bleeding… so that one… I didn’t reuse, it was disposed of… It was wikd though. There was no reason for that reaction, it was just another day lighting my 2 candles.
Protection candle went crazy, Purfication & Cleansing candle that was/is closer to me was happily doing its thing minus some extra wax pooling around the wick.
Do you buy already made/rolled beeswax candles or sheets of beeswax and then roll them? Or both? I love the look of the sheet candles and would love to make/use them more but am trying to find an economical way to do so. I love the idea of being able to customize candle size and color!
@Artemisia I have bought both. I love beeswax candles, but they can be expensive. I always make at least 2 candles out of one.
And that’s why we never leave a candle unattended!
It was attended. I was not only in the room, the jar was in another wider jar with water in it, to prevent the glass from over heating & on the disposable metal pie plate I use when doing anything with candles, oils, incense, or workings for easier clean up. I use the pie plate with a oven pad under it. I was in the room the entire time & noticing it, watching it. I had my snuffer on my altar along with a small cup of water that I was actually drinking out of that day.
Having been in a house fire that destroyed the home & everything in it, I’m not one to mess around with any chance of a fire. That fire was due to an issue outside & that came through the glass windows & window panes on the front door. So the last thing I want is to be jumping out of a window to get out of a house fire again.
It definitely could have been a disaster if you weren’t there watching it. I actually took a candle with me to the bathroom the other day. It was one of those jar candles from the doolar store that I had been burning a little everyday. It was getting close to the bottom and I wanted it to burn until it burned out, but I didn’t want to leave it alone for even a minute, so i took it to the bathroom. Hubby just shook his head, but he didn’t ask why. Lol!
