Good Morning Everyone, Just wondering if when Circle Casting do you have to do that every time you cast a spell, Ritual and or making spell bags or jars and so on I have done some reading on this subject but I have so much going on in my brain I might have missed what to do x Warm Regards Sharon xxx 
I only do it for bigger rituals, or if I feel I need protection. It is really up to you.

In my morning supplications I always cast and close a circle. I have a list/order of what I do.
- I say goodbye to the moon and hello to the sun
- I offer my moon affirmation (depending on the zodiac house the moon is in)
- Elemental Greet (Air, Fire, Water, Earth, Spirit)
- Circle Cast
- Spell/Ritual/Craft workings
- Spell close
- Offering (I just use a simple water pour)
- then solar affirmation for the zodiac house of the sun
My evening supplication is more of a thank-you to the sun as it is going down, and thanking the cosmos for the day…giving specific examples for that day. such as, thank-you for helping me keep my composure today, thank-you for letting me spend quality time with my son today, thank-you for having such pleasant weather today. Just thanking for the day and the blessings I had.
Sometimes, like all of us, I just can’t get to it. At the very least, I will light the candle, the incense and/or just speak my piece out loud.

Since you are just starting out, it may be a good idea to cast a quick circle before doing spellwork. Just kind of hold your wand, and turn clockwise, visualizing white light surrounding you. Don’t forget to go in reverse after, and release the energy.
Personally, I do it any time I send out a signal to the universe. Because you never know who’s going to hear it and follow the signal back. A boundary is never a bad thing.
But it doesn’t have to be a big thing. I don’t even walk my circle because I’m disabled and I can’t. I sit in the middle of my area and cast it, and imagine it forming a bubble all around me. Sort of like the shields from Star Trek. I give myself plenty of room in my head in case I need to shift in my chair, so I don’t cross the boundary, and make sure it sinks into the ground below me.
But that’s just how I do it. Everyone has a way that they do it that works for them. Imagine flowers, or a stone circle. Whatever makes you feel safe.
Now I don’t do it for things like tea rituals. Unless I’m calling on some deity. Or just like, evening prayers. Basically, any time I’m sending out a search light looking for something, I put up a circle. Because moths follow the light.

Yes, Amethyst. I first had time with the circles, because of my TBI, I cannot “spin” in a circle. I get dizzy just looking out the window sometimes. I can stand, so I stand outside at my altar stump, but only circle my arms, and yes, create a dome of protection, and I do release when I am done, and then consecrate the ground with an offering of water. Being in the desert, that is a fine offering to the land. (barely 7:30 am and already 92 degrees). We all do what we can, how we can. Magick is more intent-focused, than how many times you turn around and chant.

I’ve often wished I could find a beginner’s book for the disabled witch. With different tips for different problems. It would be a best seller! But yeah, I’m not the one to write it.
With the droughts and heat domes we’ve been having, I bet the water has become an extra special offering!
Sometimes, the circle is the spell. I use it to honor the elements, especially if I’m taking them into myself. It helps me to concentrate when I need to.
I do not use a circle to ground myself, though it does help in centering. The circle is a tool, like a hammer or a wrench. It doesn’t have to be used for every job, but it is valuable to have at hand when needed.
Last night, I enjoyed a wind meditation, for which I did not want a circle of protection- I sat in a windy courtyard and let the wind buffet me while I asked Gwynn ap Nudd for clarity from his point of view. Of course, my mind went off in a hundred different directions as the wind came at me from different directions, but that may have been helpful in seeing myself and the situation in a different light. It was a tricky meditation. One of the questions I asked seemed to be beyond where the winds blow, but even that question came back to me later in dreams and the poetry I was reading (Endymion- Keats).
Remember that the atmosphere is a sphere of protection. Thus, even if you don’t cast one for yourself, a sphere is already cast around you.

That is how I use the circle. I greet the elements, make my circle, it helps me concentrate, and then I do my thang.

If I decide to do a spell and the weather is ok I do my spell work outside and use the elements and invoke the Watchtowers. I always pass a Selenite Crystal Wand around my body to disperse any energies that might have built up. I only cast a circle 
if it is something I feel would benefit. If I am inside I tie it in with a home cleanse and again use the elements.
There is no right way it is your own personal preference we all do things differently and that is ok.

Again, it is a very personal choice. If you want to bring some nature elements in, you can add crystals, feathers, etc. Ribbons for color magic. The sky is the limit.
Of the two wands I did here, one has red and black ribbons. One has alpaca fur, feathers, crystals and ribbons, even some bone. It will call to you. Have fun with it!

I once made a wand out of a dowel rod. Didn’t use it for much, so I let it go, but I learned to carve on that wand. It was shaped like a unicorn’s horn- spiralled 2/3 of the way. On the handle, I drew a pair of unicorns with crossed horns right where the base of my thumb would be. At the end of the handle, I drew my avatar from the forum.
During the carving process, I cut myself by accident, so the wand was blessed with my blood,sweat, and tears.
