Hi, Since I have young kids I don’t know how to prepare my altar or rituals without them around
There are several things you can try. One is the virtual altar:
Also try the inner temple
thank you that looks helpful
@wendy4 mentioned in a post that she uses a small chest of drawers for her supplies that the first drawer is her altar. Maybe you could do something like that.
Hey
I know exactly how difficult practising the Craft can be, due to the demands of parenthood, many of us can! I use the virtual altar and the inner temple, @georgia has kindly given you the links already.
I also use a temporary altar, for really important spells/rituals. You can make one yourself, in theory it just has to be something small enough so that it can slip underneath or between something, yet big and sturdy enough to put your items on.
I use a mini wooden table for my temporary altar, and I use different table cloths according to the intent. It’s no bigger than a piece of A4, and I store my herbs, crystals and Craft stuff in a multi-level makeup box; everything can be pulled out and put away with no fuss and doesn’t look conspicuous or suspicious.

Thank you, i will take this advice into consideration.
I don’t know if this will help but here is what I’ve arrived at. I’m not in the closet but I don’t advertise, either.
When I started, I acquired all the trappings of an altar. Made an atheme, wand, even representations of the male and female. After I had it all laid out, I couldn’t connect to it very well.
Later, I found that my intention was the key and now my altar is a work table. I use spell bottles, witch’s ladders, and other items including a nice tray for offerings. I meditate before any actions and connect to what I want to do. I have to commit to the process but the process is almost invisible to most.
I have a bracelet I just made for a challenge on Spells8 that I am using as a sort of Pagan Rosary. In moments of quiet, I found I can concentrate on a spell - or usually reinforcing a spell - even when in an office or waiting room.
If that isn’t what you want to do, Perhaps the virtual altar here on Spells8 could be used after the kiddos hit the hay? Georgia mentioned it in her post.
I managed to create a mobile altar. I did a circle, created a wand and consecrated the items. Tried to journal about it after. Was shaking from adrenaline
Hi lovely. The suggestions here are fabulous. Just to come from a different angle, you don’t need an altar. Nature has given you many altars, from the tree in your garden, the plant pot in your house (mines a spider plant - fits as my god is Loki and spiders are his animal ) a stone that begs you to pick it up and take it home, an abandoned twig that feels wandish, all is provided for us by spirit. Bless
