@BryWisteria

Hi @Jeannie1!

Great questions! Nope - making homemade is not hard, but it does require some prep work and care. And no, you don’t have to go to class/school or anywhere special to make it. You can make your own soap right at home!

Here are some of my favorite starter videos. These are the ones I watched that taught me how to make homemade soap. The most important one is the lye safety video.

If you don’t want to deal with lye in your soap, there’s another option - it’s called “melt and pour”. You can use a pre-made soap kit, melt it down into pretty shapes and molds, and decorate it. This option is great for beginners or as a safe craft for kids :soap: :grinning:

I’ve made over ten batches of homemade soap now and I can attest that it is waaaay better than the stuff found in the store (which often, isn’t real soap at all)!

Making your own soap is a creative project that can be very magickal - you can use moon water, herbs, spices, and make a really special batch :sparkles:

If you choose to give soap making a try, I hope you have fun and enjoy it! :heart:

Aw I think I could find a creative flow for making soaps :soap: and know I can give them away as precious gifts for people I want to bless. My mother in law made some different colar soaps :black_circle::purple_heart::heart::green_heart::blue_heart: and with our plant medicine as well. One that I thought was really creative which was black licorice I believe and it gave me a memory of my uncle who use to eat a gum that I think they may still have around.

Your soap I believe had hibiscus :hibiscus: flower in it , if I’m not mistaken and some other wonderful herbs. I think you have some amazing talent with those witchy hands :white_moon_selena: 🫶🏻 you definitely dance with Shiva! I’m going to dance too, and do the things that me happy!!
Thank you so much for your post. I will be trying to find the new ingredient for my new witchy project.
Bright blessings!

You’re right! I made a batch using hibiscus tea - it had such a lovely color as a tea, but, unfortunately, when it began the saponification process with the lye it turned brown :sob: The soap itself was alright (that one was actually my partner’s favorite out of all the batches) but I just really wanted that gorgeous deep hibisus red. Oh well, I’ll keep experimenting! :woman_scientist: :hibiscus: :grin:

Awww thank you so much, Jeannie! I know you’re a very talented crafter too - I’m wishing you all the best with your witchy projects. Keep on having fun! :heart: :hugs: :sparkles:

I can understand why you gave me the class of 101 for Lye It seems to be a very potent chemical and yes, I understand. I need to be very careful with it. It is very dangerous so thank you for sharing that Bre! Also, I just wanted you to know I was just not saying I’m gonna do the project not doing it. I ordered the lye !
Thank you :blush: for all your support bre I can’t wait to craft!

It’s my pleasure! :heart: Those videos were really helpful for me when I was getting started - I think I watched them all at least three times when I made my first batch haha. It’s great to have the walkthrough and follow along with the steps :blush: I hope they will be helpful for you, too!

I’m so excited for you!!! :star_struck: Happy crafting, Jeannie - let us know how your soap making adventures go! :heart: :soap:
