Crystal help!

I walked into a neat little witchy store a couple weeks back and was immediately drawn to this crystal (and just beginning my crystal journey).

My app says it’s black agate but I’m sure the woman said something else… anyways. How do I use this?
I looked online and found it is a double ended wand.

I am menopausal and really drawn to The Crone right now so I think that’s why I was drawn to it. I have cleansed and charged it. And had it near my bed when I slept and kept on me for two weeks.

Just don’t know what to do!
Thank you!

Black Agate is used for inner peace and clarity. I am past the menopausal era (thank the gods), but remember the awful hot flashes and brain fog. I think it’s the perfect crystal for where you are in your life at the moment. You can hold it while you are meditating, use it on your altar, and/or have it by your bed at night. You can also carry it with you when you go out. Congratulations on the start of your crystal journey, and remember, sometimes the crystal chooses us!

I personally don’t own any black agate. The only black crystals I have at this time are obsidian and black tourmaline and they don’t look like that one. There’s differences in the sheen and the smoothness.

Sorry, I have no idea what it is. But it’s beautiful! I’m jealous!

It really is isn’t it?
I’ve read that I can use it as a wand or to absorb negative energy but was told by the lady I bought it from that I should cleanse it frequently because it will absorb the energies around me.

True, you don’t want to be carrying other peoples negative energy around with you!

From what I know, Black Agate is an agate that has been dyed - there’s nothing wrong with that. It just changes the color of the stone itself. I think I’ve seen Black Agate also called onyx, but I believe they’re different stones. Onyx doesn’t have a specific chemical composition and isn’t a “true” mineral, though.

I figured I’d pull out one of my crystal books instead of goooooooogling and researching things. I feel like I retain the info better this way.

The Encyclopedia of Crystals by Judy Hall (revised and expanded) 213

Onyx - Trigonal crystal system, Chemistry: Si02 - silicon dioxide with carbon and iron

I can get the metaphysical info from the book to add if anyone wants!

Black agate will often still have banding as agates are a form of chalcedony (a microcrystalline quartz)

@KylaD I don’t see any lines or banding at all which doesn’t mean it can’t be black agate but I am not sure that it is.

You might want to contact the store you bought it from for a positive ID.

As soon as I saw the word Onyx I remembered. She called it black onyx.

Interesting! I’ll have to look into onyx some more because I’m apparently wrong  thanks for the correction!

I think it’s glass. Or made of a type of glass the stone she bought. Unfortunately there are a lot of people that sell fakes. No offense not saying it isn’t nice because it’s very pretty. But I also have been a victim of a crystal shop selling fakes. I hate to me a negative nacy if it’s taken that way.

But saying this, if that is the case I still think we can make mundane items powerful with intent. Me personally I’d infuse it with a purpose of my own. Being unsure of what that is. And as Artemsia info said real agate typically has those bands from I remember

That’s really nice! I’ve got a little selenite bowl that I use to clean my crystals. That might help you keep it clean!

Makes me think about a post on selenite in that was posted last year. I thought I had selenite but I don’t. I can’t remember what the post said it actually was or what was most commonly passed off as selenite. But I have a ton of whatever the pass off is. I still use it as if it were selenite tho. I’d like to get some real selenite someday

I also have obsidian I’m not sure is obsidian and maybe glass.

We have two different posts about that because selenite and satin spar are often interchanged.

Satin Spar vs Selenite
Is selenite really selenite?

In any case, I’m glad you remembered what the shop said it was, @KylaD  it’s a beautiful pointed tower/wand!

Yup the second post .

I agree it’s still a gorgeous piece. I’m sorry if my honesty comes off wrong. I’m probably on the autism spectrum and we can’t help but to answer honestly. It’s too expensive for me to find out if I am on the spectrum This has made people not like me in my life. Hahahaha  not saying I’m right either I don’t know just speculation

I do love the wand :kissing_heart:

It doesn’t - at least not to me  I have two gorgeous pieces of what was supposed to be malachite: a ring and a pendant. They never really felt right to me and I now know that’s because they’re not real. They’re actually resin that was designed to look like malachite  knowing true crystals from fakes is really important for two reasons:

  1. Fake crystals can be harmful both physically and spiritually.
  2. Buying a piece of resin when it’s supposed to be a crystal is a massive waste of money.

I appreciate your honesty and I don’t think it comes across as harsh at all.
