I wear a pentacle for protection and identification. A Sister told me my pentacle was too small to be effective, and that I had to wear something bigger.
The small one I wear is about 1cm diameter. Is it too small? It’s 925 Sterling Silver.
lord it doesnt matter the size, it only matters that you believe in it. (its correspondences can help too ). but yeah the size of the pentacle doesnt mesn its not effective
Seconding @aster on this one. I have pentacles from 1 cm to 3 inches. I’ve found it doesn’t matter what they are made of, from plastic beads to sterling. The ones I care most about are the ones I connect with and the ones with the most energy. I saw a tiny one which was so pretty, worn by a cashier at Hobby Lobby: the body was the pentacle with delicate butterfly wings spread around it, and all only the size of a centimeter. May yours empower you in all the best ways!
No, bigger doesn´t mean better. Your personal connection to your pentacle matters; I will cleanse and charge mine almost daily, sometimes dab a tiny bit of protection oil on it.
So, absolutely wear what you´re comfortable with and what you like.
I’ve never heard that the size of your pentacle matters when it comes to using it for any sort of spell work. Honestly, I’m kind of surprised that someone thinks this way or believes this way. The fact that it’s a pentacle and the fact that you have given it a purpose and put energy into it for a specific reason is all you need for it to be effective. Now, if you find that a larger pentacle is more effective, well that is something you might want to explore in the future. I don’t think the size of your pentacle matters at all.
Also, just a note that I’ve updated the title of your post to be a bit more clear
ah, correspondences are the metaphysical meanings behind certain objects, crystals, scents, etc. so while you believing something has a certain meaning gives the object the most power, correspondences (aka what most people believe it to mean) can give it even more power. for example, i have my personal belief that parsley is for banishment, and it really works, but most people correspond it with other things
Size doesn’t matter (reference all the allusions to it so far )
For me, material doesn’t matter. I carry a 3d printed (plastic) pentacle in my pocket about the size of a dollar coin. The reason for that size is that it is hard to lose it.
I stay away from wearing lots of metal jewelry since I do electronic tinkering. The energy and symbolism is what it means to me - not the material or the size.
As an art-witch I absolutely agree! Whether symbols are made from silver, stone, wood, resin or paper and paint…it really doesn´t matter.
As always it´s about intent and the practicioners preference. One of my favorite art-witches Molly Roberts said:
You have a pentacle!!! Great! As in everything associated with the craft “size does [not] matter”. What matters is your intent and how you use the item. Not, it’s color, size, expense…..if it works for you, IT WORKS!! The craft does not have a set of “rules”. This forum, as in the craft itself, is made up of individuals who are able to guide you, not direct you. So, if it feels right for you, do not worry about what any else thinks.
