Door to Door preaching….. wait!

Today started out to be such a strange day. I needed to take my car down to the shop for an oil change. As I was going to get ready I heard my doorbell ring…… yep, it was a gentleman and a woman wanting to talk to me about their Religion. I went ahead and opened the door and he began his introduction. When he mentioned “God” and what the Bible said, I gently spoke and said “sir, Im sorry, I understand what you are saying but I am Pagan and I follow a different religious path” (I was hoping he would say Thank you and go on). He was genuinely curious and said in his 40 years of going door to door, no one had ever said anything like that to him and wanted to know if I would explain it to him. I told him about my beliefs and how I followed my Fathers and Grandfathers paths. I felt like if he could go house to house and talk about his God, why not use the same tactic to educate him??? I did a lot of smiling while I talked and I pointed out to him that prior to the year 1604, the word Witch wasn’t in the Bible. I explained how it was written in Hebrew, Latin and Greek and parts were written in Old Greek, which King James Scholars did not understand. He definitely left with more than what he came with!!!

Nice Work! Many sects of Christianity don’t encourage education of other religious paths and beliefs. They are a threat. One of the reasons that I found myself on this path was I finally decided to sit down and actually learn what “being a witch” entailed! When I realized it was, essentially, everything I believed and most of what I already did… here I am! But I did have to work through a lot of christian trauma and that was really hard!

They probably won’t convert, but at least they walked away knowing that pagans aren’t some crazy cult of dangerous people!

Great job Isabella! It sounds like they were probably Jehovah’s Witnesses. They like to talk about Christianity being Paganism. Most of the Christian holidays are based on Paganism, so they are right about that. Lol! It is so awesome that you told them you are Pagan!

What a kind and gentle way to handle the situation- I agree that it was very brave of you, Isabella!

If more situations were handled in this way- with patience, kindness, and sharing wisdom- I think the world would be a nicer place for everyone :dove: Well done to you!
